I had my first eye operated on in August…an amazing experience…only felt lots of liquid going into my eye and saw only watery bright lights. Unfortunately it took a time to fully heal so I had to wait until yesterday to have the second done. This was a little more uncomfortable. I felt very strongly the gadget that keeps the eye open, saw the lights going blurry and pink, could feel an arc being drawn on my eye, and felt pressure when, presumably, the lenses were being exchanged. It wasn’t agony but a little disturbing. I remembered afterwards that the nurse I saw before going into theatre had said that there was ‘a bit of the pill’ left in my eye and she removed it before I went in.could this have been something to do with the anaesthetic I wonder? I was sokeen to get the op done, I never thought to query this. I had more pain on leaving than on the previous occasion but it responded to paracetamol so wasn’t too much of an issue. On all the occasions I have had to contact you I have only ever been met with kindness and consideration and professionalism. I would certainly recommend your clinic to friends, but wouldn’t tell them in detail about my second experience! Thank you

Arrangements were extremely easy to manage. Staff in the phone were helpful, polite and reassuring. Assessment staff were excellent and the whole process was good On the day of the procedure the nurses before and after the procedure were poor in their approach. The initial nurse gave no information as to what she was doing. The nurses after the procedure showed little empathy and even wrote the incorrect eye on my medication. Doctor who carried out procedure was very efficient, pleasant and calming. Nurse in theatre very pleasant and empathetic.

From my first pre-op appointment to the operation itself, I was highly impressed by the care & professional approach each of the Spamedica team took of me and those around me. The prospect of cataract surgery and the process of lens replacement is naturally something we all fear, but the reality was a procedure without fear or pain, conducted by a very experienced and outstanding team. The resulting improvement in my vision within hours of surgery quite unbelievable, with very minor post op pain. I would highly recommend Spamedica for Cataract surgery.

i was most impressed with the entire experience of undergoing cataract surgery at Watford. All the staff were most courteous and professional in their care for the patients. Advice given was clear and precise and I have no hesitation in recommending your Watford hospital as an excellent place for cataract surgery.

Well run & efficient. Helpful & friendly staff. Plenty of parking at site so easy drop off & pick up. Both cataracts done, no problems

Was nervous because of first cataract surgery, but once staff and surgeon spoke to me I felt very calm, especially as the surgeon had an air of confidence and explained the procedure as we went along. The post surgery briefing was very useful. I’m looking forward to doing my other eye now.

I was referred for a Cataract assessment (of my right eye) at SpaMedica by my local Boots Opticians (Princes Risborough). I attended an assessment on 26th Sept 2023 and was given a choice of times for the surgery for the very next day - 27th Sept. I was amazed that it would be done so quickly. The most standout element of my two day experience was the transparency of the processes that would take place during the assessment and surgery. There were large, simple presentations on the walls of the waiting rooms that showed exactly what would happen at each of the 4/5 steps of each process and the time that each process would take. There was minimal waiting time between each process step. All areas of the SpaMedica hospital (from Reception/ Assessment rooms/Operating Theatre) were scrupulously clean. Each step of both assessment and surgery were carried out by very professional operatives with clear communication on what they were doing and what would happen at the next step of the process. For the surgery day I was there for approx 2 hours and the surgery itself took 5 minutes. I had to wear a patch over the eye for 1 day and by day 2 my eyesight was so clear and noticeably even better than my left eye; the left eye, prior to the op on my right eye, always seemed perfect to me and was obviously doing most of the work prior to the op. I have nothing but praise for SpaMedica not only for my successful surgery but also for its ‘door-to-door’ management of the customer service it delivers from the moment you enter the hospital to the moment you leave.
