I had my first eye done 2 years ago and all of the staff were exceptional then and I have just had my other eye done and cannot rate them highly enough. Friendly, reassuring yet professional and cannot recommend them highly enough! Many thanks to the whole team for being fabulous!

Review titled Cataract surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My appointment started on time. My details were checked several times. The staff put me at ease and gave me detailed information about my surgery. The surgeon went through the procedure in detail to make sure I knew what would happen and the best outcome for me. During the operation he put my mind at rest so I knew exactly what he was doing . All the staff were friendly and caring.

Review titled Very efficient
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Paul - Posted on 13 April 2025
Both the cataract treatments worked extremely well, the staff were friendly and efficient, the clinic was clean and well appointed and the surgeons were very helpful and explained the procedure in advance to put me at ease! There was free tea and coffee and biscuits and chilled water. As pleasant an experience as you could get when having surgery!!

Review titled Worrying anomalies and contradictions
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Julia Wedlock - Posted on 02 April 2025
I am very grateful for having had my first cataract operation at a very convenient and newly available local eye clinic. I am also very pleased that I already have improved distant vision without needing glasses. However I do have some feedback to share, most of which I feel would improve the service if it is addressed. 1. I felt at the booking in interview, there was no encouragement or even a smile to alleviate an anxious situation. The nurse sat at the computer entering data and then came towards me without any warning or conversation with the various eye drops and inserted them. I felt she could have been far more welcoming and communicative. 2. I felt I should have been asked about the glasses that I was wearing which were varifocals, including my sunglasses, so that I would have had the advice my optician gave me today and be prepared. After the operation and today my varifocals have not helped me, and in fact have made my new vision worse as the prescription fights with my new acuity it would seem. I phoned my optician to ask about this and went to see him about new non-prescription glasses that are helping. The information on P12 of the leaflet “After your cataract surgery” which states “After your post operative check your community optometrist can discuss new spectacles with you” is too late for me. It would mean 4-6 weeks of trying to cope with blurring near vision and unclear distant vision in sunlight. The surgeon did ask if I had any questions but I couldn’t ask because I didn’t realise the effect my varifocals would have. 3. The surgeon talked socially across me during the procedure and asked me a question about a film he was talking about so I was unsure if I was included in this discussion or not which I found disconcerting. 4. The nurse at the discharge interview asked if I had anyone staying with me overnight as I live by myself. She seemed very concerned that I had not made this arrangement and as I have no recollection of being asked to arrange this at my pre - assessment interview she made a note of this. I understand that it was recorded that I had been asked. However I note that the advice on page 2 of the leaflet “ Taking care of Yourself” states” There’s no need for someone to stay with you overnight”. 5. Some of the advice provided in the leaflets I was issued with was contradicted at the discharge interview as above but also how long I should wait until undertaking gardening and exercise and applying eye make up. I was given longer time scales in each case than those recommended in the leaflets. I find this variance disconcerting. 6. I felt that some of the advice given in the *Taking Care of Yourself* leaflet would have been useful in the “Your Cataract surgery leaflet” eg planning meals after surgery so that I was better prepared before having my operation. As the leaflet given me at discharge suggests I will give the NHS this feedback also.
