My wife has been in severe pain in her shoulder for 2 weeks. Her sleep is constantly restricted and the pain is so bad she is often in tears. She tried to get an appointment to see a Dr. but was told by receptionist that no appointments were available until mid January. She explained how much pain she was in but all she was offered was to ring at 8 am to try for an appointment. Rang at exactly 8 the next day and was no. 54 in a queue.

Phone lines open at 8am. You can press the call button at 1 second past 8 and still be number 49 in the queue. By the time you get through all appointments gone. How?
