    My father has been on Phoenix Ward for a little while now, his care and attention appear to be OK, but it's a slow process (he is in his nineties). I have rung many times and for the most part I get a good update with a member of the Phoenix Ward team, they have good knowledge of my father and of course have his best interests at heart. However, at times it's difficult to get through to the ward in the day, which I have no problem with as I'm sure they're pretty much under the cosh most of the time. So at times I've taken to phoning after 10 pm when things are a little quieter, but my experience at this time has not been good. I'm often faced with staff members who seem not to be able to understand me too well, or where I have trouble communicating with them, furthermore the conversation is very stilted. As an example I called tonight for an update on my father and the member of staff I spoke to offered little information. I then had to try and prise further information from them, but nothing on if there is improvement or loss or indeed anything.I really do get it that things are stretched, but I do worry that if the communication problems I have is experienced by my father also then he really is going to be up against it. All I want (ed) is a reasonable update that included reasonable information on my father's condition. I want to make it clear this is not a gripe against my father's care, the daytime staff seem very switched on/attentive and knowledgeable, but the late night staff are almost impossible to communicate with. Frustrated.
