Called and had a conversation with receptionist who put on an ask my GP referral. After asking what next steps would be was told that the request would be triaged and passed to GP and to expect a call same day. Call did not happen, went in following day and greeted by a receptionist who did not say either good morning nor remove her eyes from the computer screen. This is not suggestive of patient centred care which should start at the beginning right through to the end of the journey. The receptionist remembered the call and I asked why she had said I would receive a call that day, I was answered with they have staffing concerns the prior day and a lot of Ask my GP requests (not at all my business and in no way an excuse). Told today that I should hear today. Good trusting relationships with a GP practice should start when you walk through the door and with the correct information being given from the outset and not be contradictory - if you train staff correctly they should all be singing from the same sheet and it's not hard to be polite either and if in doubt ask a colleague. I felt that the receptionist not turning to face the patient was downright rude as well. Well done to the lady sat at another desk away from the receptionist desk you were pleasant and informative. As a new patient I found this very traumatic as I had been unwell for several weeks and was hoping to see a GP sooner, rather than later. I hope my next visit is better!
