Review titled Terrible Communications

Once you speak to staff on site they are fine. Rarely can you get through on the phone, it goes to answerphone and nobody rings you back. So far this week I have left 3 answerphone messages trying to arrange a prescription for my Mum as her medication is about to run out. When I did get through once, the person simply answered 'Kingswood' and instead of taking and delivering a message to someone in another office asked me to ring back on a different number. Customers who are unsupported would find it very difficult to navigate this system. For the second time now I am having to drive across Colchester to personally visit reception to get a response to a simple request.

Dear Reviewer, This is very disappointing to hear. Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience that this has caused. Thank you for raising your concerns regarding accessing the King’s Wood main reception desk. Since you have raised this concern, discussions have taken place with the administration manager and staff members that work within the reception area have been reminded of the appropriate answering of internal calls to the unit. This includes staff ensuring that if they take a message, the information is forwarded onto the relevant member of staff, or for the call to be transferred to the member of staff if they are available. It appears that the old reception contact number is allowing for answer phone messages to be accepted, however this number is not in use. Adjustments have been requested and the old answer phone messaging service is to cease. All calls to reception during office hours now go straight through to Reception or into a queue for reception with a message to say that lines are busy and someone will answer shortly. On all letters to patient/carers where medication maybe required to be prescribed, the medical secretaries contact number is stated in bold within the letter. This provides easier direct access rather than the individual needing to contact the main reception. The EPUT IT team have been approached with a request to update King’s Wood Centre reception contact details within the EPUT website, as the phone number had not been updated. Thank you again for raising your concerns with us. The Patient Experience Team

I have health power of attorney for my mother who resides at mistley manor. A nurse visited my mother 15th march with no notification and after a discussion with my mother has taken her off her alzheimers medication. I didnt find out about the visit until monday 25th march (via mistley manor senior carer as they have concerns about mum not being on her medication). I have rung your clinic 3 times and left voicemails but no reply. I would like to know how I can be at mums alzheimer review appointments with your medical staff in future, and also find out more about her current medication review. Do I need to register the health poa direct with yourselves as an independent separate unit? (it is already registered with mistley manor and her own gp). Thank you for your help, as appreciate you're busy.
