  1. Review titled Absolutely shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

Absolutely shocking experience useless practitioner didn't care about the issues I was going through which are numerous health and life stresses, kept asking me if I felt suicidal which I don't, wasn't sympathetic at all no experience of mental health it was like pulling teeth. No follow up and was really upset after the call. Waste of time. Your staff need better training

  2. Review titled Don't care

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Had lengthy initial assessment. Was told to receive feedback/outcome 6 or 7 days later. Not contacted. Still not contacted 11 days after the assessment. So phoned Vita Minds; only then did I receive a phone call to tell me that Vita Minds could not offer me any help. But it would refer me to an organisation that should be able to help. One week later and the referral has not been made. Vita Minds clearly doesn't care, so look elsewhere for help.

  3. Review titled Be Aware

Rated 1 star out of 5

This seems to be a very basic service and unnecessarily the providers require you to bare your soul repeatedly. An initial assessment was done and I was put on the waiting list and the first session (over an hour) was spent asking questions. Though it was clear the person had access to my assessment as she recited some of it back to me. I was then told the person was on holiday the following week and had a meeting the week after (although another time was offered) having just started the process I didn’t see why they had begun without warning they couldn’t continue as promised. For me all this was harmful so I did not continue. I understand some background is helpful but it is not necessary for CBT and seemed voyeuristic. Cancelling was a nightmare. Involving me calling to cancel, being quizzed, having two further phone calls made to me. Being sent two emails one beginning ‘Unfortunately, we were unable to establish how you would like to proceed with your treatment on the telephone call’. Another sending me a leaflet about keeping safe, saying it was sent ‘as agreed on the phone’ - no such agreement was made. I called back saying I had made it clear I wish to cancel. The person I spoke to ‘didn’t understand what the problem was’, laughed at me and said they would pass a message on. I then decided to just reply to one of their emails stating simply my wish to cancel. I’m now termed as ‘deciding not to engage’. I’m now in a worse place mentally and wish I had not gone ahead with this.

  4. Review titled Clearly have no knowledge of mental health

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 June 2023

I had a telephone appointment booked to discuss what therapy I would need. That day I woke up with no voice, when they rang I answered and spoke in a pained whisper to explain. There was no way I could do the assessment that day. We rescheduled for the following week. The day of the call I was asked questions as to why I was struggling and for the first time in 30+ years I opened up about what happened to me, only to be told I was going off subject and I needed to answer yes or no to her tick list. Not the way to treat someone who is baring their soul to you. We pencilled in another call for the following week and ended the call. I struggled after that call both mentally and physically because I had opened up about something I had held in and the conversation was cut off and I didn't unburden fully. I had an horrendous week of flash backs, palpitations, nightmares and hysterical crying. My friend was concerned and took me away that weekend to her caravan for a few nights to have some me time. The caravan park we were at had poor signal so when vita minds rang I missed the call, I tried to call back but because of the signal it wouldn't connect. Upon getting home later that day I emailed to explain, a few days later I received an email that said because I missed the call they could no longer work with me but if I still needed help to go and be re-referred by my gp. Of course I need help probably more so now you have opened a can of worms and now left me to deal with it all on my own when I was already struggling before. Not a great service at all, clearly they need a better understanding of how mental health issues can make you go backwards before moving forward again and I feel how they treated me was nothing short of cruel. It has taken me 30+ years of struggling and I finally faced things head on and asked for help and I was dropped out of the service due to technology being poor. Thank you for nothing

  5. Review titled Impersonal, technical, automated

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have accessed mental health services in the past and this represented the worst experience I have had from any provider. • I was called at inappropriate times and unsuitable settings - despite alerting the service in advance to windows of unavailability; • the person I spoke to seemed more interested in completing their spreadsheet of responses as quickly as possible than in taking account of the needs of the person at the other end of the line; • their questions were jargon-laden and at times, impenetrable, being delivered so flatly that there were no tonal cues in their voice to aid understanding or generate empathy; and • despite the specific referral of my GP and mental health practitioner, the assessor ultimately refused to refer me for therapy because I wouldn't share details of a traumatic teenage experience - they pressed me repeatedly for information I was not comfortable disclosing to a seemingly disinterested stranger. About as awful as I could have imagined. I feel worse now than I did at the start. I don't know where to turn as this seems to be the only show in town for my GP. I wish I'd never asked for help.

  6. Review titled Amazing service provided

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The woman I spoke with was very reassuring & made me feel at ease about the issues I was having she informed me of non urgent & urgent numbers if I’m in crisis advised if my condition worsens to contact my drs surgery. Unfortunately I cannot use the service due to my needs, but they reffered me to people that can, without me having to do anything. Staff very polite, calm & reassuring. Thank you for the support & advice.

  7. Review titled Unfeeling and unhelpful

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 April 2024

I wish I had read previous reviews before contacting this services. As previous reviews have mentioned the people you speak to have no idea what they are doing other than asking questions from a script. I have had CBT many times and the last time I had it the CBT practitioner said this wasn't suitable for me and arranged for me to have counselling. This is what I need and after suffering with depression for 20 years I know myself that cbt doesn't help me. I discussed this with the person on the phone who said she would explain this to her supervisor and call me this week to arrange it. She has called and not even mentioned I can't have the counselling and tried to just fob me off with arranging CBT without approaching our previous discussion. When I asked if that meant I couldn't have counselling she just brushed over it and said my scores aren't high enough for this. I asked if this meant I wasn't ill enough she said no that's not what it means but later contradicted herself. I am unemployed and use food banks and her only suggested was low cost counselling. Apparently if you pay then it's suitable but otherwise it's not. What a mess, I'm now left in an extremely emotional and distressed state with no option for support and no way forwards. I will continue to get worse and maybe at some point in the future I'll score worse and maybe get the help I need.
