Review titled Five months and still waiting no advice
by avocethr53 - Posted on 26 April 2023
My doctor and therapist advised me to refer myself to Talk Wandsworth in October after I had been seen by them two years prior and had unfortunately received treatment that had significantly worsened my symptoms. I was told this time that I should not have received the treatment I did as it was not appropriate for my experiences (not anyone’s fault and certainly not the therapist who was good but nevertheless I stopped using the service after a few sessions as my symptoms had significantly worsened and I was scared to continue). This time they told me they had an 8 month waiting list which is how it is but after my initial assessment I never heard back from them again and was told I would be called back in around 8 months. After this call I was asked to fill out a form to look for certain symptoms (I have no idea if it was a diagnosis or what the form was intended for but I never heard back about it which I would have liked to at least so I could continue looking for help with some assurance). I called a few times and emailed to see if anyone could let me know if it was a diagnosis or how I could get one so I could get some help in the mean time then gave up. I then rang recently to find out where in the queue I was and I never had an answer and no one ever answers the phone or replies to voicemails. Maybe it is just unlucky but immediately after I had the assessment that was the end of all communication and it feels like trying to get into contact with a ghost. No fault on anyone I spoke to, the person who did the assessment was extremely kind and sensitive and I felt relieved to know that there was a reason that the treatment I had received before had worsened my symptoms at least. I am sure the practice is incredibly busy and I empathise with that but I feel completely dropped and I wish they could have helped me find some other help in the mean time considering the wait as the severity of symptoms has continued to increase.
