Did not wait long to be seen and everything was very good I had a check up which was thorough and was told what needed to be done, I also have to go back on Wednesday to see another dentist who is very thorough

  2. Review titled Brilliant practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had to have a tooth removed today, my dentist knew I was petrified of needles, she's gone above and beyond to help me through it and making sure I was okay all of the way. I'm so glad she's joined alchemy dental practice.

  3. Review titled Always great friendly service.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Like most people I hate going to the dentist but my dentist (and his assistant) always put me at my ease, let me know exactly what may be needed soon if not immediately. He never trys to force a service on me. He listens to my views. Always leave feeling reassured.

The dentist gave me a good health check and also gave me a temporary filling. She also explained clearly the cost of the permanent filling and made me an further appointment to complete the procedure.

  5. Review titled Some concerns

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Although this is supposedly an NHS practice it seems that most treatments are done privately. For example I was given advice about a basic coming and was asked whether I wanted it to be permanent or temporary; did I want it to look good or did the look not matter. The message given by these questions was that if I opted to have the work done through the NHS this would be an inferior job and wouldn't last, which doesn't really give one much choice. I appreciate that some work, eg crowns, are done through private treatment but I would have thought that a basic filling could be done adequately on the NHS!

I am having some dental work done at the moment, my dentist is extremely patient and listens to my needs. She has gone above & beyond my expectations so far and my treatment isn’t over. You can tell that she genuinely wants to make a difference to people’s lives, which it does when you gain a little confidence back. I’m an extremely nervous patient and have had many dentists over the years but she instantly took my anxiety away, she doesn’t judge you, she just wants to help you. It’s very refreshing to meet such a kind dentist. As a family we’re relieved that she’s now staying on at Alchemy.

  9. Review titled Hygienist visit

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Pauline Taylor - Posted on 18 December 2024

I attended the hygienist who was very informative and thorough. I had decided to pay privately on this occasion as I had not had an hygienist appointment since March on the NHS and felt the receding gum problem I have needed attention earlier rather than later. I find Alchemy's dental service as a whole a good

  10. Review titled Poor quality practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

This practice seems to change their practitioners so fast that if you do get a good one, by the time that you come again they've left. Our son has had checkups here for years and we kept asking if his teeth were okay (they were poorly aligned), each time we were told that they were fine. We ended up arranging a consultation at another practice privately and he has now been referred to the hospital as he needs major realignment of his teeth. This would have been so much easier if it had been picked up years earlier by Alchemy Dental Practice. In my latest appointment my bottom hardly touched the dentists chair, he scraped extremly vigourously at some scale on my lower front teeth, catching my gum in the process, then read out a few lines to his assistant, one of which on reflection sounds as if I might have some Gingivitus. He didn't seem to have much interest in providing advice on looking after my teeth or changes that I could make. He didn't persevere with trying to remove a bit more of the scale and didn't apply the strong flouride paste to my teeth which dentists normally do as a preventative measure. My teeth are normally in great condition, so I was disappointed to discover that they were not this time. I could have really done with more advice, he seemed more interested in getting me to book a private appointment with the practice dental hygienist. If you look at what's expected of an NHS dental appointment the treatment that I received falls far short of it. We'd love to change NHS practice but unfortunately all the lists at the practices in our area are full. Sad that NHS dentistry has come to this!
