  1. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Everyone was really helpful, professional and friendly - from the front desk to the people supporting the practitioners to the hygienist and dentist. Everything ran to time, in fact we were ahead of time on both back to back appointments. I had some terrible toothache that was diagnosed and treated all within 45 minutes of me arriving, including a full clean up with the hygienist. I would highly recommend.

  2. Review titled Communication could be improved

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I had a dentist appointment booked for both myself and my 18month old. This would be his first experience of the dentist. There was no communication with me during the appointment of how to best involve my son with this process. They wanted to look in my son’s mouth first and he was very unsure and upset. The dentist then looked at my mouth first of which I received no information or communication about the condition of my teeth or oral health after inspection. They then tried to look at my son’s mouth again but he was very upset. I asked if they had any tips or tricks to help with a situation like this - of which there wasn’t much of a response. The assistant had tried stickers. I was mostly surprised with the lack of communication about what was seen in my mouth and of what the dentist could or couldn’t see in my son’s mouth/advice for looking after a child’s teeth. I completely understand my son’s reaction was not their issue, but was surprised/concerned that I left the very quick appointment with no knowledge of what was seen by the dentist. I then had a hygienist appointment straight after. The hygienist was very good at communicating what she was doing, what she had seen and about follow up care. During our appointment however, the assistant that had supported during my dentist appointment came into the room, went over to the hygienist’s assistant and they immediately began laughing and whispering and giggling about something, all whilst I was having my teeth cleaned by the hygienist. It just made me feel a bit uncomfortable and that this type of behaviour is unprofessional. When I went to pay, I should have asked for a breakdown of what I had paid for, but didn’t. I had felt a bit flustered from my appointment where my son had got quite upset. Maybe a breakdown in what patients are paying for would be useful information especially if they have received more than one service. I was offered a receipt but declined. On my previous visit before this one, about 6-9 months before, staff had been complaining about working conditions/hours amongst other things in reception whilst I was waiting for my appointment. It came across that staff were unhappy with what they were being asked to do and how they were being asked to work, which again, made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I have another appointment booked in for 6 months time, but am considering looking for a different dental practice even though I really like the care I receive from my current hygienist.

  3. Review titled Great Team!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having had a crown fall out last night I phoned Dental Care Amersham, my dental surgery for many years now, this morning and was fitted in straight away to see the emergency dentist. He was extremely pleasant and professional and was thankfully able to replace my crown. I have always found the staff and dentists at this practise to be extremely helpful and they will always try to fit you in if you have a problem.

Had to wait 1 hour to be seen for a check up that took 2 minutes. Not a very thorough check up. Private patients seen promptly

  8. Review titled Good local NHS dentist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Dental treatment was ok. My only niggle is that you have to complete a covid questionnaire and medical history questionnaire online and if you have a dental and hygienist consecutive appointments you have to complete two! You are asked to complete forms well in advance of the appointment(s) which I did and then a couple of days before the appointment I was asked to complete the forms again! Speaking to the receptionist she said this is a frequent occurrence, head office are aware of the computer glich, but nothing is changed. I would say that this happened before my appointment 6 months ago and also with my wife and son (both NHS patients at the practice). Should we need to still fill in covid questionnaires? Should they send out chasing requests without checking the forms have already been completed? Also any change in medication is obviously relevant but surely that information could be given to the dentist at the appointment, why is it necessary to fill in another form online in advance? This is an annoying niggle which if you have completed forms it makes you think you haven’t completed them properly previously! They do need to review their pre appointment online procedures!

Went for my annual check-up. Received excellent treatment in a jovial atmosphere. Highly recommend (this was not NHS but private).
