My children were refused a basic clean, they are registered under the NHS. The following explains my experience with them; if you register a child as a NHS patient at the practice, the dentist at Bedford dental practice will check and provide a basic clean using hand scaling (no machines). If you need full mouth clean they will refer you to hygienist at a cost of £60 a child. In my experience they will not help you if you cannot afford it or are under any benefits. The dentist will not do a basic clean once a child is referred to a hygienist, a 6 month check up is exactly that, a check, no clean. Under the NHS information a clean should include scaling and polish for your child, this practice will waiver this by claiming your child needs a "full mouth" clean and if a a full mouth clean is given 6 months prior (which they did do) they will not do it again. No you're child's rights, they are entitled to a scale and polish under NHS regardless of hand scaling or a machine being used to do it. I was told that under the NHS my children can only get a hand scaling clean and their ultrasonic machine will not be used. Don't feel pressured to using the hygienist as "no option" is left. Find a dentist who will clean under NHS regulations. Forcing parents to pay by leaving no other options to me seems very unethical. If anyone has any further information about what children are entitled to, please put it up on the NHS website so dentists do not get away with leaving no other options for families that are struggling. Side note: dentist is clean and admin staff are great. My dentist was friendly but did not clean my childrens teeth.

Car parking very good. Practice nice and clean. Toilets. Receptionist very friendly. Dentist patient, kind and informative. Would highly recommend this Practice.
