I called before Christmas to get the criteria of specialist dentists for disabilities. The 1st receptionist was a lovely , helpful and couldn't do enough for me. I called after the hoildays to make sure they received my referrer and to find out a bit more about the practice. The 2nd receptionist told me that this practice only deals with children. I questioned it because that is not what I was told and it does not state that on the web site. I asked if I could speak to a manager to discuss this and got refused. The receptionist was very negative. I called after the new year as I hadn't hered from the manager as my case is ergent. I spoke to the receptionist and I'm sure but can not be 100% it was the same one that was really negative and told me this practice only takes children. All I wanted to know is do you take adults she replied yes. Oh is it possible to speak to your manager just to make sure as this case is ergent. The manager called me. Started off telling g me you might get declined and would not except people with a disability of anxiety. I tried to talk but was ignored and I explained it isn't just anxiety but a lot of other issues which I didn't feel comfortable telling a receptionist. I tried to say I wasn't calling to be told I will be declined even though my referral hasn't been looked at yet, I was calling to clarify wether you take adults. She didn't listen and carried on explaining you will be declined if its just anxiety, again I have other issues and could get my doctor to explain, again she stated you might be declined and I called you to explain this. Again I tried to tell her I didn't call for this but to see if you take adults as I was told you only take children. Again she carried on being very negative saying its a 3 stage decision when my doctor has said it is ergent. I asked her what the 3 stages are and she said she didn't know and only the commissions board would know that. I asked her for the details of the commissions and she didn't know. She ended with you will get a declined letter in the post or to let you know if we will take you as a patient in 10 days time and then there is a waiting list for 6 months. I asked her how can all these people make a decision if they haven't seen my teeth and effects of my illnesses effects my teeth and she stated it has nothing to do with teeth. Confused me totally because they are a priority referral dentist for disabled people which I am. Still not really sure and I know it will come back as declined as it was so so negative and confusing as well as the manager moving the goal posts each time I stated not all but some of my disabilities. I'm shocked they could treat a person who is disabled like this. I would like to say a big thank you to the 1st receptionist who was very happy , positive and helped me to get my referral to this practice.
