I visited Malin Bridge Bupa dental practise to see the hygienist after not having a scrape/polish /deep clean for 3 years due to Covid and no access to the service. I felt intimidated , abused and threatened both by the treatment and the person. I wasn’t given any choice in what happened and told I would be thrown off NHS treatment if I didn’t buy and start using 4different teepee brushes to improve the cleaning as the nhs has limited resources and the practice is stopping treatment . I felt very upset by this treatment particularly as was not able to get through to or get appointments with the surgery long after lockdown had ended. It caused me to have an Anxiety attack in reception and I had to sit down for a few minutes to recover.I understand limited resources but patients shouldn’t have to be abused,threatened and intimidated. I had previously seen a Dentist who was polite and respectful in his manner.
