  1. Review titled Unsanitary, unpleasant, borderline hostile - avoid

Rated 1 star out of 5

Absolutely shambolic. The dentist was horribly rude to me for absolutely no reason. See other reviews. From the outset the place was worrying; Reception was filthy, posters with guidance in broken english, door locked & buzzers not labelled..It was like stepping back to the 1970s, I should have left at this point. (btw the receptionist is also the dental assistant and was running from the treatment room to reception, all very chaotic).. The dentist was almost completely unintelligible, rude and deeply unpleasant towards me. I’m still angry about how she related to me. It was a very bad experience. I still can’t comprehend why asking if I would be able to secure some relief and if she would be able to perform a treatment at some point, was considered offensive; earning me a 10 minute diatribe. I then got a refusal of any treatment (thank god) & another 10 minute lecture about nothing, finishing with being horribly insulted about my teeth. I stopped looking after myself after my partner’s diagnosis 3 years ago, so yes things have slid, it seemed so unkind to say “have you ever been to a hygienist” in such cruel tones. I have been, yes, exactly 3 years ago, funnily enough. Also strange to have to take criticisms presented in such a mean spirited way from a ‘professional’ working in the Health service who would appear to have their own self care challenges with regard to their BMI Index. I thought I would be registered there but as the dentist didn’t bother to check out the rest of my mouth or do x-rays (in the normal way) I do feel I dodged a bullet. This is not functioning as a normal dental surgery by any means. No rinsing available, the surgery itself was untidy and dirty looking. Incidentally, I kept being told by the dentist it was an emergency appointment but this was definitely not the case, I called to book for a consult as a new patient and at the end of the call said ‘how lucky you have something this week as I am in pain’. Nobody has spoken so badly to me in a very long time, there was no reason for the dentist to do so, it’s been a real surprise, genuinely, she was deeply hostile, abrasive and offensively rude. Some may suggest retirement or that there is a desperate need for some fresh training, that there is no room in this world anymore for incompetent, unpleasant mini despots, but I wouldn’t want to judge another so harshly. I don’t understand how this practice is still operating & why there aren’t more reviews warning people (especially when dealing with patients that are sometimes scared and in pain. At one point, whilst the pointless talking continued I dared to move to lean against a wall (pain & heat bad combo) and was shrieked at for moving whilst she was still talking, unbelievable. Whilst I do understand that the treatment required for me was beyond the capabilities of that dental practice (2 molar fillings) there was no need to make it quite so horrible.

Service provided was excellent. I’m a nervous patient and both dentist and nurse were very kind with me. Would highly recommend.
