  1. Review titled Outdated treatment methods and spiteful orthodontist

Rated 1 star out of 5

As my child has a cross bite, I’ve been researching various treatment methods for his condition for a number of years, so I’m very much aware of different types of orthodontic devices. We therefore ended up visiting four different orthodontists to obtain more than one opinion regarding the best course of treatment. Out of the four orthodontists, Epsom Orthodontics was the worst consultation experience by far. Firstly, their set-up is very conveyor-belt style, in that as part of a group of patients, you’re shown into a sectioned off room with various cubicles. I would have overlooked this. However, I couldn’t overlook the orthodontist’s lack of understanding of my child’s condition. The treatment plan she suggested was completely out of date, not making use of any of the significant advances made in the last couple of decades for the treatment of cross bites and underbites. She completely missed one point, which the other three orthodontists recognised during their examinations. What’s worse is that when we were leaving, I tried explaining that our dentist would be sending through a referral to them for NHS treatment, as our visit there that day was really to try to understand the different treatment options, both via the private and the NHS routes. However, the orthodontist seemed to react very spitefully at that stage, obviously not interested in providing any possible NHS treatment for my son (even though he definitely would have qualified for this). In summary, it was an absolutely terrible experience at Epsom Orthodontics, and I’m so glad that we’ve managed to find another orthodontist who does have the relevant experience that one would expect for this field.

Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We value feedback as it provides an opportunity to enhance our services and address any issues. We understand your disappointment and deeply apologize if our service did not meet your expectations. At Epsom Orthodontics, we pride ourselves on delivering individualized care, basing our treatment plans on a thorough understanding of each patient's unique needs. Our clinicians, with over 20 years of experience, are committed to staying at the forefront of orthodontic technology. This includes utilizing digital printing in our lab and achieving the Invisalign Apex status for 2021-2022, placing us in the top 1% in the EMEA region. Additionally, I want to emphasize our commitment to treating all eligible NHS patients who meet the necessary criteria. Typically, this includes patients over the age of 9 years. Our clinic is dedicated to providing the most current and effective treatments, with every decision grounded in evidence-based practice. We maintain a thorough approach for both NHS and private patients, ensuring that younger patients receive appropriate interceptive treatment when it's suitable for their specific needs. We again regret that your experience did not reflect these standards. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you. Please feel free to contact us directly on feedback@epsomortho.com or 01372 749040, so we can better understand and address your concerns. We are very sorry to see a patient leave and wish you the best in your future orthodontic endeavours. Charlotte Brain - Manager
