Review titled Lovely Staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2023
I have recently joined the practice in Milnthorpe and I must say that the staff members working are all extremely welcoming and helpful. The dentist I saw was very kind and explained everything to me and made sure I understood. As a whole I had a great experience in the practice, I am a very nervous patient but they calmed me entirely.

Review titled Absolutely appalling trestment of NHS Patients.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Iain G - Posted on 20 October 2023
Absolutely appalling behaviour by this dental practice basically "dumping" all of its NHS Patients without even notifying them of its intention to do so! I have been an NHS patient of this practice since around 2005 along with my partner. We have attended for annual checkups and have always paid for our treatments/never missed appointments. In May 2022 Hordale Dental practice unexplicably cancelled my annual check up. No reason was given, nor did I hear anything further until I called in earlier this year and asked why the appointment had been cancelled. I was told that the practice was unable to offer check ups any more and that they were going from NHS to private patients only by the end of July and that I "would be getting a letter to that effect". I have since heard nothing further from Hordale and am absolutely disgusted with the way I have been treated. I cannot afford to pay outrageous private dental fees and you can be assured I will not be returning to Hordale Dental Practice at any time going forward due to your disgusting and disgraceful manner of just quietly dumping your NHS Patients. I do wholeheartedly hope that the practice folds and that all who work there lose their jobs: it is nothing less than you all deserve. Yours Iain Gallagher.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused in relation to your treating dentist no longer providing NHS treatment. Your dentist has taken the decision to no longer offer dental services on the NHS. Where routine NHS provision is not currently available, your practice will be able to offer alternative private options. We hope that these alternatives will allow you to access dental care at this time. Please contact the practice should you require more information, so they can discuss with you your needs. Kind regards, Julie Wood - {my}dentist Patient Services Team Leader

I am always a nervous wreck when coming into the dentist but the staff at this practice made me feel totally at ease. Everyone was extremely helpful and answered all my queries. I have seen multiple dentists at this practice and they have all been great with me. Would 100% recommend attending this practice.

Review titled Repeat cancellations
Rated 1 star out of 5

This dentist has a habit of cancelling your appointment. You receive a letter from them informing you that your appointment has been cancelled and they say they will contact you to rearrange it. They never ever do. This gives the impression they have little time for their existing NHS customers.

Review titled Staff are rude & unhelpful
Rated 1 star out of 5

After being hung up on twice, I was talked over by the receptionist, not allowing me to ask questions on when I can next get an appointment. They’re not taking any appointments at the moment due to only having a part time dentist. Every time I’ve visited in the past, I’ve been seen by a different dentist because they don’t seem to be able to keep them in the practice. I wasn’t able to be seen whilst pregnant, and my nearly 18month old hasn’t been able to see a dentist yet.

Dear patient, As you may be aware, we do have several Dentist vacancies at your practice and are actively trying to recruit. Unfortunately, recruitment of dentist’s post pandemic is proving extremely difficult. There is a shortage of dentists in the UK which is making attracting dentists to certain areas of the country more difficult, and we are experiencing challenges in recruiting to the area. However, we are looking at all options to attract and re-locate dentists to your practice. Please be assured that the vacancies are not through any lack of trying or apathy on our part, purely that recruiting dentists, is proving difficult. However, whilst we are recruiting, if you experience a dental emergency, e.g. swelling or bleeding then you can still contact the practice and they will triage your symptoms and advise you how obtain emergency assistance until the practice is fully staffed. I understand that this news will be disappointing. Kind regards Julie Wood – {my}dentist patient services Team Leader
