I had an appointment on 12/08/2024 at 3pm. On the way to the dentist, my car had an issue, a part was broken, I needed to stop on the way and temporarily fixed it. This caused a delay but I managed to arrive at 3:05pm. On my arrival I was told by the receptionist that I was late therefore I could not be seen that day and had to re schedule the appointment. I explained the reason of the delay, and on top of that, I explained that I am 26 weeks pregnant, with pregnancy issues such as pain and dizziness and that travelling, going for appointments, and mobilising is difficult for me. I mentioned that I had the broken part of the car in the boot, to provide reassurance. I begged to be seen on the date, even if I needed to wait but I was rejected to be seen due to a 5 minute delay (even after explaining the rationale of the delay). I also mentioned that I have been waiting for this appointment for months due to the waiting list. I was then offered a second appointment on the following day, the 13/08/2024 at 5:40pm. I explained that I was going straight to the garage from the practice and that I couldn’t know if I’ll be able to attend the practice the following day depending on the car availability. I was told by the receptionist that it was fine, I could just let them know if I couldn’t make it and re schedule the appointment again. On the 13th, I collected the fixed car, but unfortunately it was too late to make it on time for my appointment, therefore I contacted the practice via phone a few minutes before the appointment to advice that I was collecting the car at that time, hence I could attend the clinic but would be later than the appointment given time or we would need to reschedule as an alternative. Then I was told that because I had not attended two appointments I could not be offered a reschedule of the appointment. I explained (again) the reason for the 5 minutes delay in the first appointment and secondly that I was offered by the practice this second appointment, after having highlighted that depending on the car fixing timing I might not be able to attend, and that was not an issue, I only had to contact them to reschedule it. I was then told by the receptionist that it was a colleague I spoke to on the 12th, and that the practitioner had indicated that I could not be offered a reschedule of the appointment. I was disappointed, distressed (from the incident with the car), and the lack of service and empathy from the practitioner and the receptionist, plus that I had adviced about the possibility of not being able to attend and it was the practice who gave me the appointment on the 13th. I then informed them that I wanted to raised a complain due to these events and was told to go to their web site and raised it there. I haven’t been able to locate where to raise a complaint.

I was fitted in as an emergency and the service was so quick and really caring. I was really anxious but he looked after me and reassured me the whole time

I have always been a nervous wreck going to dentist ,but everyone put me at ease ,I had 3 teeth out was told what was happening and what I would probably feel ,very caring highly recommended
