how much longer do i have to wait to have an appointment here, i was told about 2 years ago that i would be put on the list for braces but then suddenly had to stop having appointments due to the shortage. i am unhappy with this, could i not just get a referral regardless of the shortage at this practice?

Review titled Areas of improvement

Very few NHS dentists. This is a great country and the greatness has been due to grounded socialist principles. A country's greatness is measured by the citizens'/subjects' holistic welfare. Businesses as these have a social responsible to contribute to the greatness of a country. So it is important to bring in NHS dentists and afford them the space to work and provide excellent dental care to those who cannot afford private dental health. Please do audits to ensure excellent dental practice. I had a procedure done, which I believe was avoidable. But the worst part was that I was not asked for consent signature, I did not have explanation and reasoning of the procedure and I was not informed of the charges. All I saw was a needle come into my mouth upon which I exclaimed "what is this". Audits help understand the dentists' practice standards. Explaining procedure, informing charges, getting consent is all crucial in any health practice.

Review titled Extremely Disappointing
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been going to this dentist since I was young (I am now 45). I have lost count as to how many times I have phoned for an NHS appointment because my dentist there left, only to be told phone back in three months (This is now 3 years I have been trying). The last time I phoned (Dec 2023), I was told in January (2024) they would be getting an NHS dentist and I would receive a phone call. I am still waiting for that phone call.

Hi, We are sorry to receive your review and comments and apologise for any inconvenience at this time .It is unfortunately the case that your practice is struggling with a severe lack of NHS dentists. The NHS dentist vacancies have been advertised for some time, however, to date we have not been able to secure any more NHS dentists. Please be assured that as soon as we are able to fill the vacancies the practice will be happy to offer you your routine NHS examination appointment. Kind regards, Julie - mydentist patient services team leader

Review titled Crying in pain waiting 3 months for private extraction
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Clare - Posted on 23 November 2023
Moved to the area and joined this practice as a private patient. Paid over a £100 for initial check up X-rays etc and booked in for an extraction 2 weeks later as despite offering appointments to suit your needs dentist only worked 2 days a week. 2 cancellations later by the surgery and me ringing endlessly I have an appointment on December 6th. However I am in in agony, haven’t slept for weeks and have spent a fortune on painkillers, gels etc. It is 4am and the pain is immeasurable. The surgery said call 111. I am a private patient and this is shocking. I am a professional trying to keep it together in my own job and I’m close to breaking point. This surgery needs investigating by the general dental council for negligence.

Review titled Avoid at all costs!
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 July 2023
Had an infection in my gum, rang everyday at 8am for 5 days, on the 4th day ended up in a&e. After a check over by a doctor he said I had to see a dentist asap. I've had a temperature of 40.5 for 5 days, my skin is so sore, head is banging, cant eat. On 5 day I rang again at 8am on the phone for 40 minutes (10th in the queue) finally get to speak to someone and they put the phone down. I decided to then go in and all they could do was offer me a private appointment at £89 just for a consultation!!! Disgusting

Dear Patient I am sorry that you are unhappy with the service at our practice. There are usually only a small number of emergency appointments allocated per day and they can be taken very quickly. We would encourage patients to contact us as soon as possible if they are in pain, so triage can occur, as appointments are also allocated on a priority basis. Kind regards Julie Wood - {my}dentist Patient Services Team Leader

Review titled 2 tier NHS system
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 February 2023
Apparently it’s a 6 months wait for treatment on the NHS due to the NHS dentists leaving and private dentist taking their place. States on their website that they are taking new patients but on the NHS website it says they are not taking patients. If I want a private appointment then I can get one the next day for a sum of £85. So leave someone in pain until you swipe the debit card for payment then they will sort it out for you. Unethical on so many levels. No wonder GP’s and hospitals are dealing with increasing demand for patients with dental problems.

I am sorry for any confusion here. Our website does state 'accepting new patients', this is correct. Unfortunately, though at the moment a large number of our dental practices are at maximum NHS patient capacity and are only able to offer new patient spaces on a private basis. We do regularly review our new NHS places and offer these when NHS capacity becomes available. Kind Regards Julie Wood - {my}dentist Patient Services Team Leader

Review titled Terrible to make contact with
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 November 2022
As a private patient I think there should be a separate contact number. I called and was 3rd in the call queue, After 25 minutes I am still waiting! I have spent my entire lunch break trying to get through before having to go and teach and requesting a call back!

Review titled try another dentist
Rated 1 star out of 5
by christopher loftus - Posted on 29 March 2023
i had a small front tooth filling, when i got home noticed it was loose and fragments had fallen off, i on several occasions tried contacting Earl Royd, but no luck. I finally got through and was told the dentist had left the practice, and no other dentists were able to treat me, try another dentist, not good customer relations, and after 20 plus years, im another customer having to pay agin elsewhere, this company should be struck off the dental register.

Dear Christopher, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, as this practice is already at maximum capacity for NHS patients, they are currently unable to offer you an NHS place following your clinician leaving. In some practices where we have no NHS appointment capacity, we do have alternative private options for patients to access dentistry, outside of the practices NHS contractual obligations. We will always offer patients this option as an alternative, so our patients can make an informed choice on their dental care. Kind Regards Julie Wood - {my}dentist Patient Services Team Leader
