After 10+ years of being a patient there, my dentist left and I got told I can no longer have NHS appointments until they hire somebody else. That was exactly 1 year ago. They pushed for me to go private, but how do they expect people to fork out the money for all these treatments? I am on a very low income, i can barely afford my bills and food. No other practice takes NHS adult patients in County Durham so I am in the unfortunate position of not being able to have a dental treatment. They have a duty of care for their patients but that’s not important to them.

I am sorry to hear your feedback and would like to reassure you that our NHS patients are extremely important to us. Unfortunately like many other dental practices across the UK, the practice is suffering from a lack of NHS dentists and due to this is struggling to keep up with NHS patient demand. The volume of NHS patients wanting care is significantly more than the practice can now accommodate. This NHS dentistry challenge has been widely reported in the media, as increasing numbers of individual dentists are personally choosing to only work on a private basis. As the number of NHS dentists in the UK is limited, recruitment of NHS dentists is becoming increasingly more difficult and NHS appointments and NHS provision is being affected. As a company mydentist is conscious of this challenge and conscious that many patients are now able to only access private care. To help patients with this we have worked with private dentists to offer private care as affordable as possible. We do understand that a lack of NHS provision is frustrating, and we do remain committed to NHS dentistry and exploring ways to expand NHS care. Kind Regards mydentist Patient Support Team

  2. Review titled Worst service

I have been a patient at this practice for many years and have watched it gradually go down hill. I have had so many different dentists. The last one farmed me out to another dentist as he was no longer seeing NHS patients I am half way through a procedure the NHS dentist has left and I have been left high and dry. I was told to call back first thing in the morning to get an appointment I was then told I couldn't have one because I wasn't in pain. It's disgusting all they want is to get rid of their NHS patients and go private. I said I would pay to be told I had to pay up front and I would have to pay for the first examination as they didn't know what was wrong with me. Try reading my notes I am half way through a procedure that didn't work twice with your dentist. This is a shocking way to treat patients.
