  2. Review titled Terrible service provided for NHS patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

by James - Posted on 10 April 2024

Terrible service received from My Dentist. I have been a patient at the North Street Practice for over 6 years. My daughter and I have been waiting 18 months for an appointment as it has now been cancelled 3 times in a row. They have now told me I am being removed as an NHS patient and if my daughter and I want to see a dentist we need to pay for a private appointment... I'm thoroughly disappointed and I would not recommend the practice.

It may be helpful if I further clarify the current situation. On 7 February 2024 the Government announced the Dental Recovery Plan for England. This plan, which began on 1 March, included a programme to increase new patient NHS dental appointments,. As the largest dental provider in the UK, mydentist are keen to support more patients in getting access to NHS care and we therefore are actively participating in this programme. It is a condition of being in the scheme that the status of a participating practice must be set to ‘accepting new patients’ on the practice NHS website from 1 March 2024 to 31 March 2025, the full duration of the scheme. To not display this information would put us in breach of our contract and participation. However, displaying this information this does pose some challenges, as appointment capacity for new patients does vary considerably from practice to practice, depending on NHS dentist availability. We are seeing unprecedented volumes of enquires into practices in your vicinity and are currently unable to accommodate every patient contacting us needing care. While we are accepting new NHS appointments at the practices, capacity is still severely restricted, meaning new appointments fill up extremely quickly. We are also unable to offer waiting lists at each practice. We are nevertheless continuing to expand our new patient capacity across our dental practices as we support our clinicians to open up additional diary space. Kind regards Julie Wood - mydentist Patient Services Team Leader

  3. Review titled Price of my teeth check

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had my tooth checked and had nothing done and was charged £99 Which was disgusting for the price they charged me they have gone private which should not be aloud for everyone and if you are pension age you have not been charged so much money for your appointment I have been with them for years

Dear Patient, Thank you for the comments that you have made regarding our practice and thank you also for taking the time to leave them. Your feedback is very much appreciated. The purpose of an emergency appointment is to alleviate immediate pain, these appointments are usually 10-15 minutes long depending on the diary availably and patient circumstances. A further appointment may then be made as required for treatment if necessary. It is with regret that we are not able to complete full treatment at this initial appointment. I do hope that this has explained the emergency appointment procedure, but should you wish for further clarity please do not hesitate to contact the Practice Manager. Kind Regards, Julie Wood - mydentist Patient Services Team Leader
