  1. Review titled Terrible customer service for NHS patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Gaynor - Posted on 15 June 2024

I have been a patient at this practice for over 10 years. Out of the blue, I received a text cancelling my next NHS check-up because they have gone private. So why are they on the NHS website as accepting new NHS patients? If that is the case, then simply transfer me to another NHS dentist. I am not a new patient. I am an existing patient. This dental practice is aware that I have a life limiting illness, and regular dental care is vital to my wellbeing but only cares about money. This is a disgraceful way to treat your existing NHS patients. When I challenged the practice for an explanation I just received the standard response they send out which actually tells you nothing except you need to pay to get a private appointment. If you still do NHS work then why do I now after 10 years have to go private?

Thank you for your feedback. Your previous treating dentist has taken the decision to move away from offering NHS dental services. Due to this they are no longer able to offer NHS appointments and are offering dentistry on a private only basis. This change has reduced NHS capacity at your practice. Until NHS capacity can be expanded, the practice does offer alternative private options. These are provided outside of their NHS commitments. We hope that these alternatives will help some patients to access dental care at this time. Please contact the practice should you require more information; they will be happy to discuss with you your needs. Kind regards, mydentist Patient Support Team

Dear Nige, Thank you for your review. I am sorry that we have not been able to offer you an NHS appointment. Our Weston Super Mare practice is providing NHS services, however, as we have a number of unfilled NHS dentist vacancies, we are currently not able to accommodate every patient who is contacting us seeking NHS dental care. We do have a number of private clinicians at the practice who offer private appointments outside of any NHS contractual obligations. These private options will be offered to patients as an alternative way to access dental care with us, until our NHS appointment capacity can be expanded in the future. Kind Regards mydentist Patient Support Team

Decided to change practice and go private Without notifying patience . Turned up to appointment to be told it’s been cancelled and they’ve gone private. Staff didn’t really seem to care and we’re just like head office has notified people . Spoke to several friends who had the same experience. Now need to go private but definitely won’t be going with them treating patience so poorly
