I have been an NHS patient with this practice for many years. Over the past two years the practice has cancelled three appointments for my regular check - ups. The last cancellation was apparently cancelled due to my dentist returning to eastern Europe and I was promised a replacement would be appointed. I have recently received a letter from the practice now inviting me to go private with them, with 3 levels of service, at which I could, at the least, see a dentist once a year. The letter did not confirm the promised new appointment, but stated that if I chose to remain as an NHS patient, the practice may not be able to guarantee me any appointments. I spent my entire working career as a teacher and head teacher in the state primary sector, and if I had treated my clientele, the parents and pupils, in such a cavalier fashion and reneging on promises about staffing, I would have felt I had failed my most loyal community. I am now a retired state pensioner and feel I have now no real option but to use that money to support private dental practice; good for profit, poor for integrity.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused in relation to your treating dentist no longer providing NHS treatment. Your dentist has taken the decision to no longer offer dental services on the NHS. Where routine NHS provision is not currently available, your practice will be able to offer alternative private options.
