    I tried to register as a new patient. When I called I was told this practice is not accepting new NHS patients. Well unless you want to wait 18 months. They are using the NHS website to get people to call in and then try an upsell to them to become a private patient.

    It may be helpful if I further clarify the current situation. On 7 February 2024 the Government announced the Dental Recovery Plan for England. This plan, which began on 1 March, included a programme to increase new patient NHS dental appointments,. As the largest dental provider in the UK, mydentist are keen to support more patients in getting access to NHS care and we therefore are actively participating in this programme. It is a condition of being in the scheme that the status of a participating practice must be set to ‘accepting new patients’ on the practice NHS website from 1 March 2024 to 31 March 2025, the full duration of the scheme. To not display this information would put us in breach of our contract and participation. However, displaying this information this does pose some challenges, as appointment capacity for new patients does vary considerably from practice to practice, depending on NHS dentist availability. We are seeing unprecedented volumes of enquires into practices in your vicinity and are currently unable to accommodate every patient contacting us needing care. While we are accepting new NHS appointments at the practices, capacity is still severely restricted, meaning new appointments fill up extremely quickly. We are also unable to offer waiting lists at each practice. We are nevertheless continuing to expand our new patient capacity across our dental practices as we support our clinicians to open up additional diary space.     Following my retiring to Southbourne from Hertfordshire it had been some time since I visited a dentist and I was delighted to find MyDentist at Tuckton. They have a warm, friendly and welcoming Reception staff who arranged a check-up for me. My particular dentist was kind, courteous and extremely gentle. She prepared an immediate treatment plan for me which clearly included all charges along with longer term recommendations. I was impressed with their reasonable charges (non NHS) and would wholeheartedly reccomend them to anyone looking for Dental Care.

    I had my initial consultation in October 2022 due to having two impacted wisdom teeth causing extreme pain to the point where I can’t eat solid foods or drink warm drinks. I had an x-ray the following day and delivered it straight after, where I expected a phone call within the next few days. Almost 2 months later and I haven’t heard anything from my dentist. I have tried phoning but the receptionists don’t seem to be able to help as they have said they have left a reminded to my dentist and that’s all the could do. I can’t believe I have been left in this condition for this long with what seems like no care.
