Review titled Amazing Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Nicolle Alderson - Posted on 13 August 2024
My daughter is so phobic of the going to the dentist but the dentist who saw her today could not have been better! She was patient, gentle, reassuring and gave my daughter control. She explained who would be in the room before we walked in and explained theres a private space within the room for her. Before starting she asked my daughter if there was any noises or sensory things that she found uncomfortable. She asked if there was anything that would help keep her calm; fidget toys, hand holding etc. She explained everything in depth before continuing: what it was, how it looked, how long it would take, how it would feel. She gave alternative ways. She has gave her some suggestions for home, and explained we will build up to anything big so she gets used to everything in a gentle way first. Also our next appointment has a half hour slot- its not for a long procedure so I believe this time is allocated purely so it can allow for the calm, gentle, slow approach. I was dreading this appointment as the idea of going to a dentist causes meltdowns for my daughter. But this couldn’t have gone any better- my daughter came out smiling

Review titled Normally great but communication today was a real let down
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kate St Ledger - Posted on 02 January 2024
In short, the dentists here are amazing. I bring my autistic son here as he can't cope at a regular dentist surgery, and so far we have had nothing but positive experiences, until today. Turned up for my sons appointment only to be told that it was at Byker! I knew when I booked this appointment that I'd specifically asked for it to be at Kenton as Byker is too far for me to get to on public transport with my son. The administration staff told me that from looking at the system, someone had changed the appointment to Byker as the dentist my son was booked in to see was working at Byker today, however we had not been made aware of this and because I am not psychic I didn't know of this change. So I have spent all week preparing my autistic son for his change in routine and preparing him for a dentist visit which is something that makes him anxious and wasted £25 on taxis for absolutely nothing!! Furious would be an understatement!! Where is the communication??? When dealing with autistic patients communication should be key and the financial loss to myself is only a further kick in the teeth especially at this time of year.
