  1. Review titled Lighten your pocket

The difficaulty here is that you are seen as a private patient for less than five minutes. Then there is the persuasion to have unnecessary x rays, not for clinical purposes but because you havent "had any for a while". It is the only profession that uses an invasive procedure without an injury requiring a cause. This is offered even if your teeth are perfect. The cost? about £100 and radiation of your head unnecessarily. So let's generously look at the appointment taking 10 mins that works out at £600 an hour. Other bills that I heard whilist waiting were anything from £400-600. The basic care is not worth the cost, especially if all healthy. I would suggest other patients consider if they want there heads subject to radiation when it is not clinically necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to review our practice. Our examination appointments are all 20 minutes long (30 for new patients). This includes the time the dentist needs to take any x-rays, write your notes and produce a treatment plan. We have a list of treatment and fees that can be found on our website, for you to consult before an appointment with us. We follow FGDP guidelines for taking x-rays. Their recommendation is to take screening x-rays on patients every 6-24 months depending on the risk of disease. The x-rays help us to assess areas of your mouth that we are unable to see on visual inspection alone, such as contact points between the teeth and your bone levels. The dose of radiation is kept as low as reasonably possible, in fact one chest x-ray is the equivalent of around 20 dental x-rays. Sorry you have not been happy with your appointment with us. If you wish to discuss your appointment or treatment with us any further, please contact us directly. Our practice manager Sammie Palmer will be more than happy to help you.

What a great experience with a lovely dentist who made me feel so comfortable and explained everything very well. Highly recommend seeing her.
