I am terrified off the dentist and I had my first ever filling done and the hygienist knows who I am and knows I have a fear and he was very understanding and the nurse that was with him was lovely and held my hand and reassured me and explained what was going to happen and went at my paste and didn’t do anything with out telling me what they were going to do

I was very frightened going to the dentist after having a stroke. The team was very friendly and made me feel at ease.

The dentist was lovely - very thorough and friendly. The receptionist did not give the best first impression and was not so friendly.

I came in for a routine check up today and left feeling quite upset and annoyed. I’ve always had really good service from remarkable smiles before, however this time it seemed like something was different and I was just being given a hard sell on procedures I didn’t know I was going to require. After I’d had my routine check, the dentist informed me I will need a cap on a tooth, he said this is normal following a root canal procedure, which I had never been told at my previous appointments, only that a root canal would be to help prevent losing the tooth. The dentist then went on to explain how a crown works and on to discuss costs for NHS metal crowns vs a white crown. All of this was fine, but I wasn’t told any alternative treatments. The dentist then asked me to take a seat back in reception and wait for his colleague, which I did. I was taken to a very tiny room in the reception. I expressed my concern with having a crown as my parents have had issues with theirs in the past which makes me nervous. I was shown different crowns and had explained to me that ‘a £600 crown is better than a £2000 implant’ as if this was some consolation to the enormous cost. I was then given a hard sell with offers of finance agreements and basically made to feel as if I was buying into some fancy product rather than this being beneficial to my dental health. I don’t have any issues with this tooth, it doesn’t cause any problems, so I don’t understand the reasons for needing a crown. It was really unsettling and I left feeling like I was being made to have something I’m not sure I want and without any alternative option. I was told I would get a phone call next week to decide what I want to do as if I have to decide quickly. I feel like there was an expectation for me to have a £300-600 procedure against my decision. I don’t come to the dentist to be sold things, I come for my dental health.
