  1. Review titled Rude Staff and terrible experience!

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have just returned from my appointment and found the Dentist Dr H very rude! I had a check up two weeks ago with another Dentist due to tooth pain and was told to return today for a new appointment check up with an extraction. Here I am at my new appointment today (2 weeks on) called to go in and was ignored first of all whilst the Dentist was 'reading my notes' to then be told if I had a filling 2 years ago I would not be in this situation if I had received the said filling. I was asked do I really want a tooth out at my age and I should lean towards a Root Cancel (patients choice!) Her tone and attitude towards me was very rude and dismissive! The dentist carried out a check up and told me she did not have time for an extraction today and I would need to rebook. She also could not guarantee the extraction would be successful and would more than likely fracture meaning a 5 month waiting list for a Dental hospital to remove fully. I left the room and was charged a further full check up fee even though the Dentist had just looked in my mouth and confirmed all ok and no pain. What a disgrace! I bring my children here and I am appalled by the service and attitude provided to patients....

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that you feel this way. We do not like patients to leave dissatisfied. I have investigated and would like to clarify points raised. The appointment 2 weeks ago was an emergency appointment which we offered to you to alleviate pain, this automatically generates a band 4 NHS emergency charge for any treatment carried out in that session. Any subsequent appointments will incur a separate fee, which is why you were charged a band 1 NHS examination fee for your appointment with Dr H- as this involved a full NHS examination and treatment planning of the region of concern. During this appointment we try to give patients all options , risks and pros and cons of each to ensure they are full informed before embarking on treatment carried out. We offered you treatment, but simply requested that you booked back for a longer appointment in order for us to safely carry out the prescribed treatment. If you would like to discuss this further please contact the practice.

  2. Review titled Amazing practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My son and I visited Pickering House today for our 6 month check up. As we walked through the door we were greeted by 2 smiles from the ladies behind the reception desk, who then checked us in and politely asked us to take a seat. We were then not long after called into the examination room where we were greeted as always by our dentist asking us how we were and how time flies since our previous checkup. After a brief catchup she welcomed my son to the chair where she then carried out her examination on his teeth, as always our dentist was extremely professional asking about my sons health as he is diabetic and calling myself over to look at the health of his teeth. Our dentist is not only a professional regarding dentistry but knows us her patients as a family, which is very reassuring and to be honest very kind. When it was my turn again everything about my examination was explained clearly, discussing my past treatments she had carried out. Everything for both my son amd I was fine, we then chatted about how we will be back in 6 months and how time flies by. Our dentist was as always very kind, professional and gave us reassurance throughout our checkup. As we left we booked our next appointment with 2 lovely ladies who again asked about my sons health as they are aware of his diabetes, again adding the personal touch of knowing their patients. Thank you, Pickering House and see you in 6 months. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a professional dentist that go above and beyond for their patients whilst adding reassurance and kindness.

I've been going to this practice since they took over which really says it all. On this occasion my dentist explained what she was doing and so I had no worries about the treatment. I would thoroughly recommend the practice.
