Review titled Very friendly
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by M. Lawrence - Posted on 17 April 2024
Had my first appointment today and the staff were very friendly. I’m booked in for a small amount of work, and it was all explained clearly. I am happy to recommend Poole Dental Practice.

we went there to check where it is,also to check on a appointment.got to the main door which had a bell to ring.pressed it No Answer,it also said entry only for appointments ?so we could not get through the front door. We managed to enter as someone came out from the chiropodist on the ground floor. When we got to the top of the stairs a sign saying Enter Only If You Have A Appointment the door was Locked ? Wow What a back street dentist, should be struck off.Answer phone is perthetic.

Review titled Worst experience ever!
Rated 1 star out of 5

Went to have fillings, dentist suggested a tooth be extracted. Took an x-Ray said it was straight forward. I said the dentist I saw at my previous appointment said the tooth would have to be extracted under general anaesthetic. She said not necessary can be done in the chair. It was horrendous, pulling, shoving, holding my head down. Ended up leaving some of the root behind and it will have to be looked at in another appointment. X-Ray machine didn’t work, had to open windows due to the dentist applying so much force she had to take a break. Told me I needed to relax as I was too tense! Would absolutely not recommend ever!

Review titled Long wait for NHS appointment but efficient treatment
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 March 2023
Was lucky to get accepted for NHS treatment when there was a dire scarcity of dentists still accepting NHS patients. Some difficulty getting through to reception at end of 2022. Wait times for initial NHS checkup was quite long, ie: a couple of months, and similar wait times for first dental treatment (for which payment is required up front - as is permitted) - though similar wait times were also experienced with some busy private practices. Dental team hard working and efficient. During treatment always forewarned what dentist intended to do and what to expect, ie: injections, so there are no surprises. Dentist correctly forecast that there would be no subsequent discomfort/inflammation/pain resulting from inlay work to a deep cavity, when nerve had been quite hot/cold/pressure sensitive prior to this (when a temporary filling was in place) - I (wrongly) assumed such discomfort might continue after the inlay was fitted. Quite pleased with the result.

Review titled No customer service
Rated 1 star out of 5

This dentist does not answer the phone nor does it call you back when you leave your contact details as thier answerphone requests. Customer service non existent. Can't speak to quality of dentistry as I didn't get that far before deciding to go elsewhere.

Review titled Unfair practice

Taking new NHS patients but they required you to make full payment for the whole treatment plan on NHS & private 4 months in advance. NHS patients have a 4-month waiting time for appointments. If you do make the full payment the appointments will be cancelled.

Review titled Great treatment, again
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Chris Smith - Posted on 22 December 2022
I am writing this in the run up to Xmas. A niggling problem became acute in the last couple of days. I rang this morning and was fortunate to get an appointment, someone had cancelled. The reason for the pain was identified by x-ray, a wisdom tooth was extracted. The numbing was very effective and I could hardly believe how quickly the tooth was removed. Great care was taken of me afterwards, including phoning a family member to collect me, advice given on self care in the next hours. There is some discomfort but I know the underlying problem is resolved and it will pass.
