Review titled Poorly Run
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 31 October 2024
I have been a patient at Precious Dental Care for a number of years. I recently rang for a check-up as thought it had been a while since I'd had one, and was told I am no longer an NHS patient with them as I hadn't had an appointment since 2022. I questioned that I hadn't had a reminder, and they said the reminders are an additional service. I had not been told that I was being removed from their patient list. I would say that over the years there have been some good dentists at this practice and some not so good, but throughout that time, the customer service/policies have been unsatisfactory.

Review titled Disappointed after 50 years of being a patient
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 September 2024
I rang to make a check up appointment on 27/09/24 only to be informed that I had not attended the practice since 2021 and that I was no longer registered with the practice. The fact that I had been a patient with practice for over 50 years meant nothing. I had always been accommodating when they had cancelled my appointments at short notice, even when this occured after I had travelled to the appointment. I usually made follow up appointments following on from a scheduled appointment. However, at the last appointment I was told they had a capacity issue and they would contact me nearer the time for a follow. This didn't happen and due to bearavements in my family, I didn't pursue the matter. Sadly, I was informed that as I had not been since 2021, they no longer considered me as their NHS patient. I was informed that I could write to them to appeal or complain about this decision, which I did on the same day I found out that I was no longer registered with them. On 30/09/24 the Practice Manager replied and there was no compassion, consideration or empathy for all that I have gone through since April 2020 during the COVID pandemic and the very personal circumstances and tragedy for me and my family. I now have to find a new NHS dentist to treat me. Thank you Precious Dental for replying so promptly to my email. Your policies and procedures need to be more transparent. Had I been made aware of the implications of not being seen in a more timely or regular follow up pattern, I could have ensured that I actively followed up with the practice and prevented myself from being kicked off your NHS patient list. I strongly believe after reading the response that I received from the Practice Manager that nothing I said or explained made any difference.

Review titled Was good now cowboys
Rated 1 star out of 5

Had abscess they didn’t X-ray, told me to get antibiotics. After a year of pain they finally removed my tooth as it was too late to be saved. Now been told I’m no longer on their NHS list saying sent texts ( I don’t have a mobile) and letters about making a routine appointment. I never received anything they could not show any communication. strange how NHS are been thrown out allowing more space for private patients.

Review titled Not happy
Rated 1 star out of 5

I had the quickest check up ever and was told I needed a filling (first one in 30 years) which quickly fell out. I returned a few months later with a chipped tooth, had a filling which also fell out. Moved elsewhere .

Review titled Check up not done
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I paid for a check up but the only tooth looked at was one I was complaining has been giving me pain. An X-ray was taken but no problems diagnosed so the pain is getting worse & none of my other teeth were checked at all. If there was another NHS dentist in Leeds taking new patients I’d change

Review titled Poor service.
Rated 1 star out of 5

I did not see my usual dentist. The one I saw did the check up and 2 fillings in 6 minutes. No gum check. No anything. The fillings seemed to be paste and had gone by the next day. I feel cheated, but it’s not easy to move.

Review titled Happy to recommend
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 April 2023
I am happy to recommend this dental practice. I have had a good experience with all of the dentists I have seen over past few years - for checkups, fillings & a capped tooth. It seems well equipped the the latest X-ray machines etc. It is always possible to get a timely appointment & I feel fortunate that they still take NHS patients!

Review titled Poor Patient Care

I have been a patient for over 15 years and the service is not the same anymore at this practice, the dentist didn't do any x-rays to see if there was infection under the tooth, they just looked and said you have abscess and need to take antibiotics which they never prescribe them, I ended up getting the antibiotics from my GP.

Review titled Rubbish
Rated 1 star out of 5

Could not agree more with the previous reviews. I’ve been at this dentist for the last 12 years and have never had any problems, the care has always been professional and helpful. However, the practice has now completely changed and after visiting I will be looking elsewhere in the future. I was seen by the dentist for less than 2minutes and told to see the hygienist before even sitting down in the chair. The dentist never sat down to during my routine check up nor did they check my gums/bite or any other routine check, in fact it was a complete waste of time.

Review titled Really gone downhill
Rated 1 star out of 5

The review written by the person a month ago could have been written by me as I had exactly the same experience. The check up was so quick I felt the dentist was ‘turning the handle’ to get patients through as fast as possible. Felt money centred rather than person centred. And why did the dentist say I should see the hygienist to remove ‘a bit of tartar’ when a scale and polish is supposed to be included in an NHS check up if it’s clinically necessary? I left wondering why I’d bothered going. I will be looking for a new dentist.
