  1. Review titled Uncaring

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Eira Featley - Posted on 30 November 2023

Was with Tavern St for over 7 years and saw it deteriorate over time. I broke my ankle so while in hospital rang to cancel my appointment. I was told that would be fine. When I tried to re book as the filling they had done fell out and tooth cracked I was told you can nolong attend this dentist as you cancelled. I explained I broke my ankle the receptionist ensinpaecric said that's the second time you cancelled the other was in 2019! Which was my son being taken into hospital. I had alway made them aware i was carer for my son. To be told our system won't let you back. I've appeal tried everything but they were totally uncaring I now have to travel an hour and a half for an NHS dentist.

  2. Review titled Reception staff robotic lacked empathy

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 June 2023

The receptionist just seemed very robotic, completely lacked any empathy or understanding, you may even question if she was human or a robot. My appointment was at 3:45pm for my 3 year old son however, there was an ambulance on the road on the way to the dentist so I couldn't get passed, it got to 3:40 and still was stuck so I thought I had better call to let them know... I called twice no answer. I arrived at the dentist at 3:50pm and had to wait another 10 minutes to be served as the receptionist was answering phone calls at this point instead of serving the customer who was Infront of me. When I got to the desk it was 4pm, I said I have my son booked in for 3:45 she said ok I will see if he can still see him take a sit so I did. She then came up to me and said I would have to email to book in again, I said can I book it in with you now, she said no I said why she said because you missed your whole appointment so he may not be able to see your son at all now, but it's all ok (well clearly isn't ok) to which I replied I have wasted my time I will go elsewhere. I am extremely frustrated as this was no fault of my own. Having spoken to my partner he recommended I didn't take myself off their list as it is so difficult to find another dentist, however having spoken to others, reading reviews and the mangers response to reviews and my personal experience I will be taking myself off their list. As I really don't want another bad experience. I really empathise with the people that has had bad experiences with the dentist staff there and their lack of empathy or understanding to their customers. Luckily my next appointment is not until September so I have plenty of time to cancel. I seriously recommend people not to go to this dentist they seem to be wasting people's time and blaming the customers for unforeseen circumstances which is ridiculous. Something really needs to change at this dentist before upsetting more and more people for no reason. It's such a shame all these bad reviews and nothing seems to be looked into more closely. Surely if they keep having bad reviews about their staff they need to be investigating the staff.

  3. Review titled Removed from list following sickness

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 June 2023

In May 2023 I was booked in for annual check up ( pm appointment ) , however on the morning of the appointment I was violently sick with major stomach problems ( sick enough that I could not leave my bed to visit the doctor !) .My wife phoned the doctor in the morning to cancel the appointment - classed as a late cancellation and advised that I would rebook as soon as I was well again .I have recently returned to good health , tried to rebook only to be advised that I had been removed from the list -no discussion , -no letter, no prior warning ..I raised my concerns over their policy on removing patients without prior warning from their list only to be told that it was a late cancellation and I have been removed and should now find another dentist and I should respect the NHS professionals and stop cancelling appointments ( this is the only appointment that I have had to cancel due to unforseen sickness in over 50 years ! ) I have always had good service from the dentists at the practice , although you rarely see the same one twice , and would not fault the practice for anything other than their attitude to removing patients from their list without discussion or warning , this shows a total lack of professionalism ,empathy and is rather at odds with the fact that they state that customer satisfaction is a high priority for them . Having read many other reviews listed here it seems that this may not be the case .

  6. Review titled Awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Amy - Posted on 02 June 2023

Needed lots of work done was told no nhs spaces so had To go private. That same time my friend showed me a flyer they had advertising for nhs patients so i spoke to reception staff who were so rude and told me now I'm registered as a private patient they can't change it. I needed the work done and spent thousands. I had an appointment on a Monday but cancelled on the Friday due to being let down for childcare the Rude reception staff told me I had to pay the full appointment fee of £400 no management available to speak to. I was going to reschedule but after this I certainly won't be going back.

  7. Review titled Not taking NHS patients,

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 May 2023

On the NHS website it says that this practice is taking NHS patients, I called to enquire and was told in a very offhand and rude manner that the list was closed and I would have to try in a month or 6 weeks. Why dont they update their listing with NHS?

  8. Review titled Rude & aggressive staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Juliet Garnham - Posted on 10 March 2023

Rude, aggressive and completely unnecessarily so! Emailed in the morning after receiving a leaflet through my door looking for NHS patients, received a reply back telling me when to come down. Arrived and told without an apology just a receptionist repeating herself aggressively I couldn’t be seen when I had only come to complete forms over and over again. Clearly a sales pitch trying to get private patients and not registering new NHS patients. I’m already registered with an NHS dentist I would rather continue to do the hour drive I currently do then move my business to somewhere where I’m going to have to deal with at least one rude member of staff. She was talking fairly aggressively to the patient before me. I don’t care what kind of day she is having it’s not an excuse!! The worst first impression for your business!! I should have realised from the aggressive nature of the email I received this morning referring to non-acceptable behaviour. You are not an exception to your own rules!! I don’t tolerate rude or aggressive behaviour towards me either! I really wish I had read these reviews before wasting my time they clearly have a reputation for being unnecessarily rude and aggressive, I certainly feel like I’ve had a lucky escape now and will continue with the lovely dentist I’ve had my entire life until such a time I find a closer one for my family that I feel confident won’t abuse their position and give me the service I’ve come to expect. I don’t need assistance to complete a NHS form particularly when we are already registered with them and only require transferring you may however need assistance to do a sales pitch for your private services, which I suspect is the real reason you got aggressive and couldn’t give me a calm and reasonable explanation when I said sorry I don’t understand I’ve just come here as per your email this morning to fill out a form. An email in which you had every opportunity to tell me I couldn’t come down today before I made the journey. Don’t be fooled folks this has the feel of a sales tactic for private clients not a call for NHS clients! I believe in the NHS and they have standards to meet for me they haven’t met them and judging by reviews that have already been left they don’t regularly! Before you register with them check their customer reviews on Google and Facebook.

  9. Review titled Controlling and rude ‘because they can’

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 April 2023

After being told this was my closest practice accepting NHS patients (an hour and a half’s drive from home) I rung to register myself and my family who have been unable to access any dentist for two years since ours went private . I rung the practice who told me that was fine and they were accepting patients but that I had to apply by email from their website. This I did. I received a form telling me they would only register adults in person who had to each complete their own form on the premises. This seemed unnecessarily hard at that point but since we are getting desperate to see a dentist my husband and I both took time off work at short notice to make the three hour round trip as we didn’t want to risk them closing their books. We arrived as they opened the next morning to be told by the receptionist we should have read the sign on the door that says they aren’t registering any more patients this week and that the email is just automatic. We asked whether we could complete the forms ready for when they opened - no. We asked whether we could complete remotely when they do open since we live so far away - no. I know experiments have been done showing what humans will do to other humans when given a little bit of power and it seems this is the case here. Very sad to see that they are able to wield this power to make life as hard for people as possible.

I phoned the practice to inform them that I had tested positive for Covid and could not make my appointment as I am classed as extremely vulnerable and do not want to leave my house they told me I was being struck off as they told me I had to come in.I am sorry but this is disgusting and it was my 1st appointment after being treated like this I am very glad I did not attend as if they treat you like this what do they treat you like when you attend.
