Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ian B - Posted on 16 September 2024
Been again this morning, got emergency appointment. After suffering in the night with pain in tooth. Like before when I have been to the smile clinic Bolton, The dentist is lovely, always welcome you with a smile and hello. She listens to you, and shares options and what she will be doing for your treatment. You can’t fault this practice whatsoever. I’m a nervous patient who not keen on dentists but this practice and dentist has changed all that for me. I’m now on antibiotics and they have booked me in again for follow up treatment. Genuine review from a very happy genuine patient. Thank you to all staff at Smile clinic Bolton.

Review titled Worrying practise
Rated 1 star out of 5

Staff friendly but disappointed with the experience. I came in with pain in my back teeth, expecting to get advice that i would need fillings, but the service I received did not meet my expectations.Incomplete Diagnosis: Despite explaining that the pain was coming from my back teeth and not my composite-bonded (front teeth 7 )and one implant, i have the dentist refused to perform the necessary fillings blaming the composite however no problems with my bonding or pain in the last 10 years. The teeth in pain were not touched by composite .I later had a family friend, who is also a dentist who has won numerous awards of 30 years now retired review my X-ray and was informed that I had four cavities, not 3 and some had some with decay under the existing fillings.(i was never told) fillings they were done by smile clinic in horwich which is part of the same company • Conflicting Information: Initially, I was told I needed three fillings, i was never told about the additional decay under the filling cavity (done by smile clinic horwich) but the subsequent review indicated more issues that were not addressed during my visit. The pain i was told was my wisdom teeth pushing on my teeth but i explained i had these taken out the xray does not show this, but what my friend said is you need a filling where the pain had been coming from, the dentist told me there was nothing wrong with the top teeth maybe im grinding them and it was my wisdom teeth ( that i was put to sleep to have taken out) pushing on them • Feeling Rushed: I felt that my consultation was rushed and my concerns were not fully addressed. After having my xrays reviewed -The X-rays i was told were not the best and should have been higher up. I was also told the implant may need to have a bone graft which again my family friend said that is ridiculous to comment on no investigation and a not so great x-ray in 5 minutes. i think i was in 10 minutes and my appointment was 11:20 i think i waited 15/ 20 minutes to be seen. Overall Experience: rushed and felt like all they cared about was getting as much money as possible (cash only ) Due to being nhs i was advised that practises dont want to do big jobs because less money and more time. As the banding is the same for 4 fillings as it is 1. My visit left me feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. I hope the clinic can improve on their diagnostic thoroughness and patient communication to better address their patients’ needs.

Review titled Miscommunication?
Rated 1 star out of 5

Went for first appointment and was told I needed a deep clean, couldn't do it at the time so booked for a second time. When I went was told I hadn't booked for the clean but they did it anyway. After getting home, I received an email saying they didn't think they could continue with treatment as dentist said there was a miscommunication and it would not be in the best interest to continue as there was a 'breakdown of the relationship' and I had no trust in their treatment? and then told me they were taking me off their list. Also advised I had gum disease, so great to be removed from their list knowing I need further treatment and how difficult it is to get a NHS dentist.
