  1. Review titled Not recommended

I have waited 5 years to join an NHS Dentist in Brighton and was delighted to finally get accepted in the Trafalgar Street practice. I have never experienced such a blatantly superficial examination. I can't have been in the chair for more than 2 minutes. No cancer check, no probe of gums or teeth. Literally, I could have experienced the examination on webinar, as soley questioning and dental health advice.

  2. Review titled Fantastic dental practise - friendly and professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After avoiding the dentist for 7 years, I was extremely anxious about going, knowing my teeth needed attention. From the moment I arrived, the receptionist was incredibly friendly, which helped put me at ease. Once in the dentist’s room, I immediately felt comfortable. The dentist conducted the check-up thoroughly, explained everything in simple terms, and reassured me that my teeth weren’t as bad as I had feared. He recommended seeing the hygienist, and the practice managed to book me an appointment within a few weeks. I’m so glad I chose this dental practice and would highly recommend it to anyone.

  3. Review titled Bad practice

I have been going to dentists for check ups and mostly hygienist visits for a clean up for over 55 years , I have only ever had minor issues, the odd filling when I was in my teens and early 20's. I have shortly before visiting Trafalgar dentist, had a check up and been to a hygienist who happily showed me my x-rays and explained clearly that I have the onset of what could become gum disease and that if I continue to brush, floss etc regularly and also visit the hygienist twice a year, I'd have no problems. I had my name down for Trafalgar dentist waiting list as it was NHS and hopefully more affordable to my budget. I came in for my first check up , the dentist took x-ray and began inspection of teeth, then did the strangest thing ever by scraping across my gums harshly with the small scalpel shaped instrument, I at this point reacted as one would expect with an "ouch" type sound, because it really hurt and wasn't what he was supposed to be doing, at this point he got quite angry and confrontational saying he has to do this for the examination. I asked that he continue with caution and he did it differently for a bit, then started to try prising my gums away from the teeth causing my gum to bleed, then telling me that I had gum disease, that I already know I don't have , further on he admitted it was he's first day but only because he was asking his assistant for an opinion on the severity of my gums. I asked him to explain his diagnosis to me , which he couldn't, telling me three conflicting answers and options for treatment, I asked he's assistant if she could explain, she gave my a funny look and walked out. At this point I felt pretty traumatised and uncomfortable, I proceeded to ask the dentist if he could just write down the 3 options so I could Google at home before making a decision. He told me he's not going to write me a letter, I explained again, I don't need a letter just 3 bullet points really. Here I felt that both the dentist and assistant were angry towards me and made me feel like I was being awkward, so I said I'm sorry but I have had enough and feel you have completely wasted my time and got up and left. I won't be returning to Trafalgar Dentist!

  4. Review titled Kind, gentle, reassuring and very competent.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This is the first time i have ever visited a dentist (in 67 years) without silently crying with anxiety and fear. The dentist listened to what i needed doing, and didn`t make me feel bad for the fact my teeth were in a state, and that i hadn`t been to a dentist for 10+years. He was kind, reassuring, gentle, and a good communicator, and i felt really positive having my fillings, which were excellently done (without injections!), and am so glad i`ve been accepted into this practice....i would highly recommend this team. Thankyou, much appreciated.
