   I went for my check up on Wednesday & was told I needed a scale & polish because I had some gum disease. I would have to book in with the hygienist at a cost of £60 every 3 months. The band 1 nhs charge includes a scale & polish if clinical need eg gum disease. What is going on here? “ Band 1: £25.80 Covers an examination, diagnosis and advice. If necessary, it also includes X-rays, a scale and polish (if clinically needed), and planning for further treatment“
