Review titled They do not care about NHS patients
Rated 1 star out of 5
by H M - Posted on 06 September 2024
Dishonest and money grabbing dentist who doesn't value NHS patients and will apply draconian measures to get rid if you're not spending on cosmetic dentistry. They will do anything to remove your name from the list and ask you to pay as a private patient. It's not a community dentist, they take NHS patients to see if they can sell on cosmetic dentistry. Unethical and immoral, untrustworthy. They told me my last appointment was cancelled within 24 hours, which it was not. I Sent them proof but they still removed me from the list as an NHS patient and would be happy to take me in as a private patient.

Dear Mr M., Thank you for sharing your feedback here and on Google. We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating it can be when things don't go as planned. We take all feedback seriously and strive to address concerns while balancing the needs of all our patients. Due to patient confidentiality, we're unable to discuss specific cases publicly. However, we'd like to clarify some general aspects of our practice policies. Our cancellation policy, which requires 48 hours’ notice (not 24), is clearly outlined on our website and in our communications. This policy is in place to help us manage the extremely high demand for NHS dental care, ensuring that appointment slots are used effectively to provide care to as many patients as possible. Missed or late-cancelled appointments mean that other patients, often with urgent needs, miss out on timely access to our services. NHS dental appointments are limited and in high demand, and our policies are designed to make the most of the resources available to us, ensuring that public funds are managed responsibly. This is not unique to our practice but is a common measure to manage the overwhelming demand for NHS services. The challenge of managing NHS dentistry services amid high demand has been widely covered in the news, highlighting the pressures faced by both patients and providers. We understand your frustrations, but our policies are in place to ensure that we can continue to serve our community fairly and effectively. Our team works hard to support all patients, and we always strive to be transparent, ethical, and professional in our approach. We do not prioritise private treatment over NHS care, and any suggestions to the contrary do not reflect the principles we work by. Thank you again for your feedback. We wish you all the best in finding a practice that better aligns with your needs, and we hope for a more positive experience in the future. I will reach out to you directly via email with a more detailed response. With warm regards Ola - William Place Dental Aesthetics, dentist in Bow E3, London,

Review titled Extra costs
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Celia - Posted on 30 May 2024
I really resent the practice at William Place of extracting as much money from you as possible. I just visited for a clean. I try to go every 3 months, the cost is £71. I look after my teeth very well, do not drink coffee, red, wine or smoke yet despite this I have just been told that I should pay an extra £30 for a deep clean. Whilst I understand that there is a place for a deep clean for people who do not visit the dentist regularly, clean their teeth or have other issues. This is not the case with me, and it should be perfectly possible to remove the plaque build up on my lower and upper teeth in half an hour, especially as I had a hygienist appointment 4 months ago.

Review titled They only care of private clients
Rated 1 star out of 5

A few years ago, this practice stopped my care because my baby was crying too much and I had nobody to support me. Then they removed me from their list over covid. Since, I'm trying to get an NHS appointment. They keep asking me to call at another time, then I was to to register on their online waiting list (this doesn't exist)... Definitely not a community dentist. Avoid it!

Dear A, Our team is deeply saddened by your Google and NHS Choices reviews and we're so sorry that your experience did not match your expectations. Dental care isn't set up in the same way as GP care. Each practice that offers NHS appointments has a contract with the NHS to provide an agreed amount of NHS dental treatment every month. The NHS is underfunded and overstretched. Demand for NHS appointments far outstrips supply, as there is simply not enough funding to cover NHS treatment for everyone. Due to unprecedented demand we temporarily had to suspend out waiting list. We maintain access for regular attenders and new patients as follows: • We ask you to pre-book and make a note of your next routine check-up appointment before leaving. • If you don’t pre-book, we will send you MULTIPLE reminder by email. • We will de-register you if you do not attend for a check-up within 6 months of the date it was due. For example, if you haven’t attended for 7 years and wish to book an appointment, you will be given the same options as a new patient and when there is no NHS availability you will often find private appointments available. • Re-activation is not guaranteed and depends on NHS availability at the time of contact. I wish you all the best and I hope you're able to find a dental practice that meets your needs. Here is a list of local practices which you may choose to contact for ongoing dental care: https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/find-a-dentist/results/E3%205ED We will contact you directly via email regarding your daughter’s appointment, which I’m assuming you now wish to cancel. With warm regards

Review titled Worst customer service ever!
Rated 1 star out of 5

The receptionists have a disgusting attitude. The person I just spoke to seemed very immature and lackadaisical. I spoke to the manager, who I spoke to the day before, terrible attitude also didn't seem to care or hear what I had to say. A attitude that has been passed on to her colleagues. I called the surgery today and it seemed once the receptionist found out that I was calling I could hear her giggling and I could hear multiple voices talking about me before she realised I wasn't on hold. I hadn't even said my reason for calling at this point. Then she proceeds to find it funny and attempt to speak down on me, going back and forth with me, arguing with me "but was you going to make it in 5 minutes, but was you going to make it in 5 minutes" she said continuously. She sounded very young (I am 26) If it was a mature person I would have let it go. Naturally, this caused me to be frustrated and I express my lack of appreciation for her attitude, she then started to back track. It's a shame because I have recommended a few people to sign up to the surgery and I found the Hygienist I saw so pleasant. The surgery is lovely and modern. But front of house staff have disgusting behaviours. I've never written a bad review, but there is a clear pattern of bad attitudes.

Dear T. R., Thank you for reviewing us here and on Google. Once again, I’m so sorry that your experience did not match your expectations. We are very disappointed to receive this review. I sent you an email on Friday1 (14/07/2023) and tried calling yesterday (17/07/2023 - it went straight to voicemail). Just in case you were unable to view our response on Google, I’m posting it here too. I’m not able to address specifics here, but can refer to the points raised in general terms. Our reception / waiting area is very open, so background noise (other receptionists & patients) during phone conversations is very possible – I’m very sorry if that was upsetting for you. 48 hours’ notice is required as a courtesy to other patients waiting for appointments. The impact of “no-shows” in healthcare is massive. Appointments for NHS care are especially precious – there has been a lot on the news lately about difficulty in accessing NHS dentistry. Receptionists in healthcare are routinely facing abuse and hostility from patients. The practice has a responsibility to provide a safe and secure working environment for staff. Staff mental health is as important as their physical health. Staff should not be left upset and distressed following an interaction with a patient. It is important to stress that aggressive behaviour, be it violent or abusive, will not be tolerated and we reserve the right to bar patients from our practice if they have behaved in an unacceptable manner towards our staff. I’m terribly sorry you had a disappointing experience. We wish you all the best for the future and your ongoing dental care. With warm regards Ola - William Place Dental Aesthetics

Review titled Skilled at treating children
Rated 5 stars out of 5

We had a really great experience here. My child aged 4 had a dead tooth and a gum infection. The dentist was very helpful, firstly in treating the infection and secondly removing the tooth. Given that my child wouldn't even sit on the dentist's chair during the first appointment, this was amazing progress! I really appreciated the relaxed approach the dentist took which ultimately spared us a referral to the hospital for extraction under general anaesthetic, which would have been riskier and more disruptive. Thanks again.
