2 appointments booked for same day, as we have to travel 100 miles just to receive treatment from an NHS dentist, as we are unable to find an NHS dentist closer to home. Appointments cancelled just after 8am this morning when we were already over half way there. No other appointments available the same day, waste of a day off work! If we cancelled with less than 24 hours notice we would be charged, the dentists have no penalties to pay- this needs to be addressed. Something needs to change with our NHS dental services.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately the dentist was sick today so we had no alternative but to cancel. We can't predict this happening but my team and I did come in early to contact patients as soon as possible, giving as much notice as possible. The first appointment started at 8am so patients were contacted in chronological order. The other dentists' diaries were at capacity so were unable to accommodate any extra patients. We do not charge patients for missed NHS appointments and we do take sickness into account if they have to cancel at short notice. The dentists are self employed so they do lose income every time they are sick or have to cancel patients. They would only cancel their day when it is unavoidable. We would also not want to pass on any illness to patients as there is such close contact. I am sorry to hear that you have to travel so far; there is a national shortage of NHS dentists but the South West is particularly badly affected. I was seen quickly. The hygienist was very reassuring and friendly and made a trip that I was very nervous about, easy.

Excellent visit as only booked gor z checkup but lost a filing on sunday which was replaced today and had a clean as well

Needed an emergency appointment and the receptionist was so helpful.Also dentist was new and I had never seen her before so was a little anxious but please to say she was lovely and her assistant was great.5*
