I haven’t made an appointment with a doctor at the surgery since 2019. I was always impressed in the past. I tried to get through today and at 8.07, the automated system said all the appointments were gone! I’m really disappointed with this and I’m left unable to see a doctor when I’m in pain. I have been with the surgery for 24 years, but I’m thinking about changing surgeries now. What a shame.

I've been with this practice for 15+ years. Lots of Doctor changes of course but generally the same system, except now it's firstly telephone consultation which I prefer and is more convenient. It is sometimes frustrating that the telephone system in place only allows 10 callers to queue and has caused me to loose out on an appointment during the day as I work and can find it difficult to call between 8am - 10am. There have been a few instances where I didn't feel I got the right outcome, however when asked to speak to a different clinician/Doctor for a 2nd opinion, I was offered this without issues which was great and got the outcome I needed. It does bother me when the receptionist does ask about my condition, however I am happy to provide a vague overview so the right care is provided. My latest call the receptionist did ask me to provide more details and wouldn't take my first answer, which I didn't want to clarify further considering I was at work and it was more personal - which I'd ask to take into consideration moving forward.

I had a telephone consultation to review some test results. I was told I was being put on two new medications which I didn't have the chance to discuss and before I could raise a second point the consultation was ended. When I phoned to arrange another appointment to address the matters not addressed in the first consultation I was given an appointment one month away, with no apology or explanation of the poor quality of the consultation or practicable option for an earlier appointment. The doctor showed little concern or interest, just told me dispassionately his decisions. If I can register elsewhere I will.

Arrived early for my appointment, machine didn't let me check in. Went to reception to explain, was told that the machine is designed for arrivals 15 mins early. They then proceeded to say, we'll let you off this once, then said that in the future to arrive at the preferred time. Asked for appointment details, told me to sit down. I thought I was all checked in and marked as arrived. Nope. 1 hour passes still hadn't been seen, I was waiting patiently. Went up to the reception to ask if anything is wrong and why I haven't been seen. They then proceeded to say, did you not check in? Excuse me!! I was under the impression that you checked me in. They looked over at me several times, didn't say a word to me about checking in, if they knew I was there and a mistake was made. They should've checked me in anyway, as they knew I was here. They then proceeded to say that I was marked down as 'not arrived' I was fuming, I had arrived. They could see I was present. I was then eventually seen but unfortunately it was 2 hours later!!!! Absolutely terrible. Zero communication, why are the reception there if they are not going to help?? Awful awful awful Changing doctors because of this terrible issues.

When I first joined abbey medical practice 4+ years ago, the service was excellent, nothing was to much trouble, reception staff was lovely, but my experience over this last year, I have found difficult. Getting appointments, ordering prescriptions, using ask my go. It’s all just become such hard work to get anything sorted. I can only give praise to the mental health nurse, who actually took not of my symptoms and how I was feeling and finally got to the bottom of my issue, which happened to be non mental health related. This past month I have found it extremely hard to get an appointment, order medication and actually get through to someone. Reception have become hostile or not wanting to help. It’s been hard to get hold of my repeat prescriptions. NHS app says it’s order and issued and when I go to collect from pharmacy nothing has been sent through this has happened on a number of occasions. I tried to get though on ask my GP because I have been waiting half an hour or more on the phone and they will not help. Moving the opening times of ask my gp to 9-12 was probably not the best type of service. This has lead me to move surgeries, the day I moved I contacted new surgery and my prescription was issued that day and collected with no trouble at all. I will be sad to leave as it once was a really good surgery. Such a shame
