  1. Review titled Waste of your time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 May 2024

Spend almost 2 hours on the line waiting for someone to pick up the phone. When finally answer got dismissed with the Blood test was alright so there is no point to contact them. I had to look up the results online to double check. The test was to check the source for getting dizzy few times a day. And apparently since the Blood test was ok that means I'm ok doesn't matter if I'm still getting dizzy

Many thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on the service provided. We are able to review statistics on telephone calls received and unable to locate any calls that were over 2 hours to be answered. We do monitor the timescales with which patients have to queue and provide additional cover where we can as we appreciate lengthy wait times are frustrating. If you continue to receive dizzy symptoms, may I suggest you contact us using our new appointment booking system Anima, to request further medical help. We are here to support our patients with their clinical needs. Kind regards Alexia Tongue Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Disappointed with my recent experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by John Smith - Posted on 08 May 2024

I am disappointed with my recent experience at Abbey Medical Centre. Yesterday, at 8:00 am, I called the GP's to enquire about booking a blood test. The receptionist informed me that she could only schedule morning appointments and advised me to call back at 13:30 if I wanted an afternoon slot. When I called back exactly at 13:30, I was then told that there were no routine appointments available and was advised to try again the next day. However, upon calling today, I learned that the GP was closed for staff training. It's been incredibly frustrating to make three separate calls and still not secure an appointment. It almost feels like a bad joke. This situation is absolutely disgraceful, and it's left me feeling hopeless about receiving timely medical treatment.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on the service provided by the Practice. I completely understand how frustrating this was for you to be told to call at a time when the Practice was closed for training. Feedback has been provided to the Team Leaders. We are here to help meet our patients clinical need. Whilst we have moved to a new appointment booking system called Anima, any patients unable to use this (as no internet access or email) can call the Practice for assistance. Kind regards Alexia Tongue Practice Manager

  3. Review titled Poor Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by M Patel - Posted on 22 May 2024

I’ve been trying to book an appointment for weeks for a certain problem, in which I kept being told there was no availability. Now a new system has come up where you can only book online, the receptionist team unable to assist otherwise. In anima, you are unable to insert more than one symptom, so the receptionist team advised to focus on only one symptom, so the doctor is more focused on that than the main problem at hand, insisting I give blood samples and waste resources unnecessarily, also refused to send a link in order to book said blood test and provide the medication required. Before we used to get same day appointments, I was given an appointment for 3 weeks time for the actual problem at hand.

  4. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I needed to clarify sone details relating to a blood test I was requested to book. The receptionist could not have been more patient and helpful. She clarified my queries and immediately spoke to a doctor to get the answers I needed. All confirmed and reassurance given. Thank you to this young lady and the doctor to whom she spoke.

Using the new Anime system today was incredibly easy and efficient, I logged in at 7.30am and had my telephone consultation at 9.30 and all sorted. Brilliant system

Thank you. This has been a big change for both patients and staff. Many patients have found the new appointment system is easy to use, convenient and works well. As a Practice we have been able to better manage patient requests and as a result have created more capacity in our appointment system. Kind regards Alexia Tongue

  6. Review titled Appointment system

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I used the new appointment system today having previously registered my details. I completed the questionnaire and submitted it about 11.00. Within half an hour I was offered an appointment with the nurse. Reception staff helpful when I arrived.

  7. Review titled Unhelpful staffs

Rated 1 star out of 5

I had several bad experiences with the receptionists who refuse to give an appointment with the Dr at a suitable time, convenient for me, due to my work commitments. When they give an appointment is only to see the nurse, not the professional Drs. I therefore, just stopped asking for appointments for myself despite my health issues at the moment. I had the worst experience last week when I asked for an appointment for my autistic son. He was bleeding from his ear and was in pain. The receptionist refused to give him an appointment instead told us to take him to the pharmacy. The pharmacist gave antibiotics as a routine intuition. My son’s condition got worse and he couldn’t hear from his right ear. He woke up at 4am in the morning on Sunday I was in pain, I gave him some paracetamol and took him to A&E early morning. The Dr there told me to take him to the GP on Monday and ask for an ENT referral. But the receptionist wasn’t sympathetic and was repeating to book online despite the fact that I told her that I couldn’t manage to do it. She simply told me to do it online. So I tried, the online system kept on saying that there isn’t any appointment available and to contact the surgery. I went to talk to the receptionist face to face. She wasn’t understanding and again refused to give an appointment although she had the hospital letter requesting to make a referral. Until to this day, my autistic son who is unable to describe his feelings is still in pain and has problems to hear properly. I don’t think anyone deserve this kind of treatment.

  8. Review titled Terrible timekeeping and appt

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Shannon - Posted on 02 April 2024

Got there 10 minutes early for my appointment. Waited 30 minutes after my original appointment time. Saw the doctor for issue, and told nothing wrong with issue - this took up to 1 minute, no issues there. Then I asked to discuss a different issue to be told, it couldn't be discussed as I only had a 10 minute slot and they were running late. I had only been in there all of 2 minutes at this point and said it was only quick as I had this issue before. Nope, nothing they could do I would have to book another appointment. So, I waited 30 minutes to be seen for 2 minutes and be shunned away for an issue. Now I have to wait another 2 weeks for an appointment because she couldn't be bothered to discuss it there and then. Absolutely fuming with the service. Its not my you're running late, I get there are issues and things happen but to turn me away after 2 minutes is not acceptable. I usually have no complaints about this doctors but today I was left feeling terrible and felt I wasn't giving good care or attention.

I am sorry to read your frustration at the service you have received. Clinicians may well run late if they need to spend additional time with our patients. I am hopeful that you have now received your further appointment and that the Clinician met your clinical need. We do have a new appointment booking system called Anima which has help us create some capacity in appointments and where possible deliver continuity of care. I am hopeful you and all of our other patients will benefit from this. Please feel free to discuss any concerns with our Team Leader at the time of the event so we can address any issues immediately. 9. Review titled No care, no consideration

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 April 2024

Absolutely been a poor experience. Usually told there are no appointments, urgent issues being shirked off and told it isn't their problem and just go to hospital. Notes with inaccurate information and things written that haven't actually been done. Receptionists with no care or consideration, several of whom have an attitude issue and it seems almost go out of their way to be obstructive or offer no help. Just keeps giving automated responses with no personal touch, care or compassion. Unfortunately the experience has been so terrible not just on one or two occasions but multiple times with no improvement. It seems its getting worse and honestly needs serious improvements and staff need to have communication training There is a lack of professionalism and inaccessibility to the service and a lack of willingness to change or improve.

Thank you for your feedback. I would suggest you contact the Quality and Operations Manager to discuss your complaint in more detail. We are keen to understand why you feel our staff are obstructive, with some who have an attitude issue with no care or compassion. We receive wonderful comments about our staff as to how they are exceptional in assisting our patients and would be great to listen to some phone calls to understand the context of such conversations. Our staff are professional, we pride ourselves on the service we deliver and our recent CQC report reflects this. Kind regards Alexia Tongue Practice Manager

  10. Review titled Annoying. no help

Rated 1 star out of 5

My 16-year old daughter has had high fever up to 40c for 4 days in a row and we asked for a doctor`s appointment. The answer was - no free slots. Go to Corby Urgent care. We live in Wellinborough next to the abbey medical and do not have a car (i informed a receptionist about that). How possibly could a child with this high fever and bad condition travel by bus to Corby for 1 hour one way? And then sit for hours in a queue waiting? and then travel back. When i asked if there is any chance to get an appointment the next day, the answer was - no, go to Corby. That is absolutely ridiculous, that we have zero help from a practice we are registered with and that is next door.
