  1. Review titled Clarification Required

Rated 3 stars out of 5

This surgery needs to make it clear which health professional type they have made you an appointment with. I thought I was going to see a Medical Doctor but found I had an appointment made for me with a Physician Associate I had clearly stated in my econsult that I wanted a diagnosis My understanding is that Physician Associates should not be making undifferentiated diagnoses (ie where there is no previous diagnosis for the presenting physical complaint) I therefore think the surgery should not be confusing the role of a physician associate with that of a doctor and my appointment should have been made with a medically trained doctor. I therefore feel the appointment was a disappointing waste of my time.

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback. At our practice, Physician Associates (PAs) are an integral part of our clinical team, similar to other GP practices across England. We adhere strictly to the guidelines set by the General Medical Council (GMC), the British Medical Association (BMA), and the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) concerning the role of PAs in general practice. Our appointment notifications are designed to be transparent, clearly stating when an appointment is with a PA. We understand that some patients may prefer to see a specific type of clinician, and we offer the option to contact reception to request a change. Please note, however, that this may result in a delay in being seen, depending on the availability of the requested clinician. PAs at our surgery always clarify their role at the beginning of each consultation. We operate a total triage system via online or telephone eConsult, where every request for an appointment is assessed by an experienced clinician and directed to the most appropriate healthcare provider, including PAs. This process ensures that PAs do not manage undifferentiated cases independently. Our PAs are trained to take comprehensive patient histories and perform examinations. They consult with the designated supervising GP of the day, who reviews their findings and determines the patient's management plan including follow up review by a different clinician. This management plan is thoroughly discussed with the patient before concluding the consultation. I hope this explanation clarifies our practice's procedures and the vital role of our PAs. We are committed to providing high-quality care and ensuring that all patients receive the appropriate medical attention they need. Dr I. Youssef Lead GP Abernethy House Surgery

  2. Review titled Rude individuals at reception

Rated 1 star out of 5

The two individuals at reception would not stop talking. They kept gossiping about a Dr and what they’re going to write on Teams - information that should not be discussed in an open plan space in front of patience. Then when they got bored, one walked over as I was sitting for too long (due to my appointment running late) and kept asking why I’m here - to which I stated the time of my appointment and which Dr I am seeing. A few minutes later, she rudely asked me to come over and asked if I am the person she named - to which I said no. She looked shocked and asked my name and then confirmed my appointment. She then stated that they have had trouble here. Very disappointing service. I have tried to complain but they have removed the form from the website. Not a professional surgery and the individuals do not represent an establishment that should be kind and polite.

  3. Review titled Poor experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

Tried to do econsult form unsuccessful. Called surgery & was told to complete econsult form! I explained that I couldn’t & she replied that because it’s full up??!! Then why ask me to complete it. Then she tried to fob me off with dealing with a pharmacist when all I want is to speak to my doctor. Surgery has really gone downhill.

  4. Review titled Can’t get ever get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 June 2023

On the rare occasion I need to see a doctor I am never able to get an appointment and end up being offered one two weeks later over the telephone. Unable to complete E consult forms as they are all booked by 9am sometimes earlier. Although whenever I’ve been in the surgery it is dead . Just useless

  5. Review titled Can't even do an econsult now

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 January 2023

Needed a GP appointment. Blocked on website at 10.30 am today to even fill in an econsult. Reception and website say you have to wait until 06.30 tomorrow. Things go from very bad to even worse these days. When you are feeling unwell you dont need all this just to try to get an appointment.

  6. Review titled Can't get appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

Econsult was unavailable, told I had to do it at 6.30am before they close it down. Receptionist extremely unhelpful and rude. Finally submitted an econsult a week ago but no response (they say they respond in 24-48 hrs). 111 and urgent care say to see GP, GP says to call 111. Absolutely ridiculous. What are we paying taxes for if we are getting no health care?!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Can not speak highly enough of all services at this practice. GP/Nurse/Reception all so helpful. Was seen by practice nurse on the same day as contacting the surgery. Excellent. So fortunate to be registered here. Thank you all.
