  1. Review titled Poor advice and unable to contact by e-mail

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 October 2024

This morning I had a diabetic consultation by phone and was informed that I should phone my doctor after half an hour. Correspondence between the clinician and the surgery would be immediate and a new prescription would be available so I could start my new course of medication. Imagine my surprise when I called the surgery late afternoon and the receptionist promptly told me that an e-mail had not been received and told to call back Friday. What do I do now, go through the same rigmarole of getting an appointment or just leave it as I see no point in contacting the surgery again as Friday is far longer than half an hour or will you contact me? The other option is to wait till I need to come to the surgery due to my diabetes, not sure which will come first. Thinking an e-mail to the surgery would resolve this I attempted to send an e-mail, again no great surprise it bounced back. Please don't tell me just to pop in or call back, I work in Birmingham. I want this sorted

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you have not been happy with the service we have provided you. You advised that the email that you sent came back as returned. I am not sure what email address that you have been given but Dr will not prescribe any medication unless authorised by a Clinician and its safe to do so. Its difficult for me to try and resolve this problem as your complaint is anonymous. Can you ring the Practice Manager any day - Mon - Thurs between 9.30am - 3.30pm and we can try and resolve this problem. In the meantime, I have emailed the Diabetic team to see if they remember their request to us. To date, we have not received their email either. Hope to hear from you soon. 2. Review titled Neglect

Rated 1 star out of 5

I wish I could give zero stars. I phoned at 8am this morning on behalf of a friend I was second in the queue, 25 minutes later I got a telephone appointment for today. At 3pm I rang back to check the telephone appointment was going ahead & telephone number for myself to contact the patient was correct. I was told yes it can be up until 8pm tonight and the correct number was confirmed & yet... No telephone call. I've sat with this vulnerable patient all day as they have no other access to a phone. Totally unacceptable. Where is the duty of care... I only hope whoever is responsible for this incompetence never finds themselves or a loved one receiving this kind of neglect

We are sorry to hear that we have not provided the service that you were expecting. Our phone lines are extremely busy especially at 8am. We answer calls from a-lot of complexed patients with may complexed problems. We do have a call back system that has been working very well. To prevent you holding on the line, just select that you would like a call back. You will keep your place in the queue and we will ring you back when its your place in the the queue. Dr's work very long hours and they try and fit in as many patients as possible on the same day. Sometimes this means that the Dr's work up to 8pm at night to address the increasing demand on the service. Your feedback online is anonymous so I am unable to make contact with you. If you have any problems going forward or would still like clinical heap now. Please either ring me, i work Mon - Thurs from 9.30am - 3.30pm or email me on g.n82086@nhs.net and I will ring you back. Joanne

  3. Review titled Shocking phone lines

Rated 1 star out of 5

Tried to call at 8am for an appointment for my partner which was important! Called 36 times which call kept being cut off, called the emergency line who then made the appointment after me complaining. Shocking service, said the phone lines were busy but another family member was in the surgery at that exact time and didnt hear a single phone ring! Wouldn’t recommend this GP surgery because you will have to wait in A&E for 12/14 hours as you don’t get through for an appointment with the GP!

Hi, We do apologise. The old phone system was not fit fir purpose for an increased size practice. We have now upgraded our phone system to an Icloud based system. We have been informed its a better phone system. It's too early to tell at the moment. We will be regularly monitoring the phone system. Having an effective reliable phone system is important for patients and staff. Thank you once again for your feedback. Feedback helps us understand the problems patients are having in hope that the practice can resolve these problems. Best regards Practice Manager
