Review titled Totally disjointed referrals resulting in withheld meds
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 October 2024
I am incredibly frustrated and baffled by my experience of prolonged and disjointed care. Background- A gp at Shoreham referred me for a scan. The results were concerning and were then referred to a specialist at Goring Hall. More than 7 months later, I have had multiple disjointed referrals from/to changing gps at Shoreham Health Centre, to Goring Hall, from Goring Hall to Brighton Hospital, back to Goring Hall, to Portsmouth Hospital and today after chasing my 2nd scan results from Portsmouth, I am informed that the scanning person or clinician didn't have the 1st scan to compare the 2nd scan to - which was the whole point of the 2nd scan. The 2nd scan was to determine if a) the injections I was given for 6 months had the desired effect and b) if I can resume the recent meds I have been prescribed. Now I am faced again with attempts to speak to a gp at the Shoreham Health Centre, and get any useful outcome in this long running saga for something that should not be complicated. In simple terms, the interventionist radiologist at Portsmouth (who I was referred to eventually), needs to be given my first scan and mri, so he can compare it to the Sept scan. He then needs to make an assessment and share that with the gp and me. That is my request. I would be very grateful if this could be swiftly handled so I can resume my medication and also find out what my current health status is.

At 11am I phoned in for an appointment, after an extensive number of questions from the receptionist was given an appointment for that afternoon. Seen by a GP who listened carefully and gave me his full attention.

Review titled Repeat prescription
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Geoffrey Bacon - Posted on 28 October 2023
I recently submitted a repeat prescription request for medication for back pain. I was originally advised at the practice reception this could be done for existing conditions. I have seen a doctor once and submitted repeat prescriptions 5 times in the last 10 years. This time I received a phone call to say repeat prescriptions could only be carried out if the medication had been provided in the last few months. I now have a 10 day wait before a telephone consultation to request the medication. I have consulted the practice website and cannot see time limits mentioned on repeat prescriptions.

Dear Mr Bacon, Thank you very much for your feedback. I was sorry to have read about your experience. It was lovely to speak to you today and to offer you an explanation for our action. I also would like to thank you for pointing out that you could not find any reference to a repeat prescription medication review on our website. This has not been rectified and the following note added to our website - https://www.adurhealthpartnership.co.uk/repeat-prescriptions : 'If you have not requested a repeat medication for a period of time, you may need to speak to a GP to review your request. The length of this period is determined individually as it is based on the medication requested and other criteria.' It is my hope that as a result of you sharing your experience with Adur Health Partnership we can offer a better and more efficient service to our patients. I would like to thank you once again for taking the time to submit your review. Your feedback has been valuable to me and allowing the practice to reflect upon your experience. Yours sincerely, Petra Butler Patient Experience Manager

Review titled Additional services are fantastic idea.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kathy B - Posted on 13 November 2022
Shoulder problem led to use of econsult. Amazed when GP rang to book same day appointment. Queing for my Covid jab, I happened to notice physio was now available at the surgery & booking an appointment was simplicity itself. Physiotherapist was great & treatment continues. Also needed COPD review and this was carried out by a Pharmacist in the surgery. He made me feel at ease & I wasn't left wishing I'd seen a Doctor - in fact, in the future I think I'd prefer seeing the Pharmacist instead of the GP because the appointment wasn't rushed in the same way Doctors understandably always need to be. These additional services are a great idea & I felt very comfortable seeing both the physio and the pharmacist in a building I know & referrals to both services would probably have taken months at a hospital just to get an appointment! I'd recommend this practice to anyone & send my thanks to one & all :)
