  3. Review titled Totally Inspiring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Pauline. C - Posted on 25 May 2023

Following a health check up I was given the opportunity to see the Health & Wellbeing coach. I tentatively agreed not really knowing what to expect or achieve. There was an initial phone call and I was asked what I wanted or hoped to improve my health & Wellbeing. I really didn't know other than I needed to address my self diagnosed "sugar addiction" which I blamed on my weight gain. I was given a face to face appointment and I can honestly say without exaggeration it was life changing. As it happens my self diagnosis was wrong, it was habitual behaviour and not the sole reason for gaining weight. I had over time become sedentary and did zero exercise. It was fully explained in such a way that, yes, I got it, but was at no time made to feel embarrassed or ashamed. I mentioned that in the past I enjoyed swimming and I was encouraged to find a quiet session at my local sports centre. I did and I can truly say hadn't lost my love of the pool. Food types, portion control and labelling was discussed and made realise where I was going so very wrong. Making the decision to attend that appointment was the best thing I have done in years I was genuinely inspired to make small but very significant changes to my lifestyle. I feel fitter both physically and mentally. I swim 3 times a week attend pilates once a week and this is purely down to encouragement and support I didn't know I needed. I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to see the coach to go, it could make such a difference. I've even made some new friends which is lovely. Thank you for the referral. Thank you for the face to face and thank you for making a difference you are amazing.

Dear Pauline I would like to thank you on behalf of the Practice and our PCN for your kind words. Often patients inform us when things aren't going well and it refreshing for patients to take the time to let us know 'we sometimes get it right'. The team here at the Windsor House Group Practice always try to offer an excellent level of care and compassion to our patients in what is a very difficult and stressful time for everyone associated with General Practice. I have passed on your comments to everyone in the Practice - so thank you.

  4. Review titled A massive thank you to the well-being coach

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hannah Spalding - Posted on 20 April 2023

After being newly diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic in January of this year, I was referred to the well-being coach as l felt l needed a lot of support. He rang me and arranged a face to face appointment. I remember him asking me on the phone what l hoped to gain from seeing him, l know l needed such a lot of reassurance following this very frightening news. My anxieties was so heightened with this devastating news l cannot start to tell you how l really felt. I had been frantically searching online for answers and l didn’t really know where to start , l know l felt utterly and totally lost. Three months on l have been discharged from this service. I have successfully reduced my blood glucose to a much healthier level putting me just into the pre diabetic range. The support, understanding and reassurance l received has been exceptional. I can only thank and recommend this service 100% and feel really privileged to have been offered such an amazing opportunity. I am in a much better place now and feel that following such a positive experience that l would be more than happy to share my experience with newly diagnosed diabetics and show them that it is really possible to take control of our health and make life style changes that really are not difficult but will inevitably benefit us in many ways both physically and psychologically. Thank you again.
