I went for bloods taking so it could be checked. It was done quickly by a pleasant youngish lady. It is a routine blood check. I explained I do not like needles and didn’t want to see it and the lady was understanding and moved it out of my vision. It was all quick and efficient

  3. Review titled Great practice poor parking

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 January 2024

Today I took my elderly mum to get an Annual review and to see the in house Pharmacist. As she has mobility issues I organised both to be on the same day. Having a blue badge I envisaged a good chance to park near the surgery but was dismayed to find so many cars and vans parked all over. To make things worse, was the two cars in the disabled spots had no blue badges displayed. The disabled spots have yellow lines but have faded over time with not much else displayed. Needless to say having gone up and down twice to try park we were 10min late and the appointment had been put down as a none attendance with no chance of being fitted in. The surgery has been excellent to my family over the years and I only have only put this post on as I have no where else to send my complaint to.

I was sorry to hear that you had difficulties parking and were subsequently quite late for your appointment. I can appreciate the frustration with this, and with other cars without blue badges parked in the several accessible spaces. Often our car parks are very busy, and indeed there are often several patients at a time that might have needs for accessible parking. I am not aware of any way that other GP surgeries are able to practically monitoring the blue badges of cars parked because the cars parked do change every 10 minutes or so. This is something however that we are reviewing with our patient participation group over the next few months as we are keen to see what else we can do to help. We have already taking lots of steps to make spaces available, but we are open to further suggestions and ideas from our patient participation team and any others that would like to share ideas. We do already try and stop people from parking when they are visiting the Dentist or local school, we have LOTS of signs up, staff are asked to park off site, we divide our staff/patients across two sites to even out the number of patients who need to arrive at each site. We have lots of chairs in our entrance foyer which many people who may be frail choose to use to wait until their friend/family member arrives from parking. We also took the step of contacting all patients by text earlier this year to advise of several other free public car parks that are available within a short walk of 200 yards and encouragement to use those as much as possible. If however someone arrives late, regardless of the reason the staff member will always be asked if they can still see a patient. Unfortunately sometimes this is not possible for them to squeeze another one in if their lists are full and other patients are arriving on schedule. I am sorry that you were not able to be seen. Whilst we appreciate feedback, we do prefer direct contact with the surgery to enable us to discuss further. Our complaints policy containing our contact detais is widely available including: on our website, facebook page, the leaflet is available in the waiting room and our staff can also advise further. If you have any concerns in future, we would appreciate you getting in touch with us directly so that we can speak to you offline. Best Wishes Victoria Johnson Practice Manager

Made a phone call to the surgery & explained my symptoms. I received a message from the GP within the hour and a prescription was issued without delay. No fuss or hassle.

  5. Review titled GP/nurse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anne - Posted on 08 February 2024

I saw both a dr and a nurse recently and was very happy with appointments. Dr wanted blood tests but they were not taken within days of app I had to wait for 4 wks for that app. My only complaint was having to go to Rawdon when I was supposed to go to Yeadon. I am still awaiting results.

  7. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Thank you so much to all the staff for being polite, professional, efficient and respectful for my daughter’s first visit. I was so impressed from the very first phone call to get my daughter booked in. Not only was the communication in between the appointment superb, the GP who we then went on to visit at very short notice was fantastic. Thank you to the lovely staff who initially answered my call and then called back with a last minute app. Thank you to the reception staff for re arranging my app for the same evening when I was stuck in traffic and was delayed. Thank you to the GP who saw my daughter and put her at ease. I am very appreciative and thankful. Many thanks to all the staff.

  8. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 December 2023

We were offered a short notice, same day, appointment which was great. We've had this before and the online triage system seems to work really well generally. The appointment was in 40 minutes so a rush to get the poorly wife ready and get small child to agree to get into the car. We arrived on time, dropped, wife jumped out but came back 5 minutes later in tears. Apparently the appointment was 15 minutes earlier despite both of us hearing the same thing when the call came earlier. They offered no apology, no offer of anything else and were quite rude about it. We weren't late and even if the time was as they said it doesn't seem unreasonable to try to fit in when that would have been only 20 minutes notice. All round really disappointing and my wife is feeling more unwell as a result of the whole episode and the way it was handled.

I'm really sorry to hear that this happened and there has been some confusion. Patients are often booked in for urgent appointments at short notice and we always do what we can to make things fit for both the patient and GP. Its unclear what happened here and we would have been happy to rearranged this for you if the GP really wasn't able to see you as planned. I hope that you were given an alternative time later that day to come in? We can't fully reply on here due to patient confidentiality, but please do get back in touch and let us have further details of your appointment and details, so that we can investigate this further and get to the bottom of where the misunderstanding arose.

  9. Review titled Disgraceful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Ian Wilson - Posted on 11 December 2023

Over the past 2 now nearly 3 years, I have had to have a blood test followed by an injection every 10/12 weeks. They have consistently messed this up. This latest is I've had to text 3 times for them to make me 2 appointments for the 2nd week in January. I am sick to death of so called professional bodies having so much incompetence. I never know if they can fit me in at Yeadon. I have so far been sent to Rawdon, Guiseley, Menston, Yeadon Health Centre and Otley Hospital for this treatment. Totally unacceptable in my opinion. They should be more pro active and make accommodation for their long term patients. Instead of sending us all around the area.

I am sorry to hear that you have concerns to raise, and to do so on this NHS Public ratings channel unfortunately is not an appropriate way to do so. We are not able to comment on individual cases on here due to patient confidentiality. Please contact the surgery by phone or our online receptionist and we would be very happy to look further into your concerns and help. We also have a complaints process that enables patients to raise concerns in a more formal way. Please contact the practice in any of these ways and we will be happy to try and unpick what has been going wrong to cause you to feel this way and find a positive way forward.

  10. Review titled Very poor practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Christopher Horne - Posted on 31 January 2024

After having two heart attacks the aftercare has been almost non existent as I can’t book appointments for bloods, blood pressure and cholesterol as there aren’t any appointments available. I was advised to go to hospital. I haven’t had a medication review in ages as there aren’t any appointments available. In September I had a road traffic accident and as a result am getting severe headaches and Tinnitus which are impacting on my quality of life as I am not sleeping and it is also affecting my work. And guess what? I can’t get an appointment. I am in my 60’s an thought that the NHS looked after the elderly. How wrong I was. This is a very poor practice indeed.

I am sorry to hear that you have concerns to raise with the practice and that you have felt the need to do that on multiple online forums instead of contacting the practice. We do have a thorough complaints process that enables us to investigate all patient concerns further. We shall forward you details about that so that we can then begin an off line discussion about what difficulties you have been facing and why, and to try to understand what's happened.
