Review titled Unable to see qualified GP
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2024
After 40 years at Albany house and wife there since childhood a 65 year old patient on permanent medication I haven't seen a qualified GP at practice in over 4 years. Final appointment attempt booked through a nurses concerns. After 45 mins of waiting to be seen I questioned why I had not been called told the computer system had not registered me, hour and half later finally seen by who I found out later to be a trainee again. Trainee knew nothing about blood test results or home blood pressure monitoring requested by the nurse. I explained my symptoms and was told could only look at one issue, on questioning competency was informed the person wasn't a qualified GP. I asked and was promised to be seen by a GP but after a few minutes in waiting room was told I wouldn't be so said I'd leave and give them a review, I then was offered to see practice manager but couldn't see much point. After about 35 good years and about 5 bad we have now left Albany House.

Review titled Can't get an appointment
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Tried ringing at 8.30am for a routine appointment. At 8.32am there is a recorded message on the line saying all routine appointments have now been taken. So within 2 minutes of opening all appointments have gone expect for emergencies. I always look online first as they tell you you can book online and as I understand it they release online appointments at 8.30am. The never seems to be anything online available these days. What is going on with this surgery, it used to be good here, but it seems to have a lack of doctors and nurses to cope with the amount of patients they have. Even trying to book a smear test is a joke. I was told there is only 1 nurse at the moment as one has left and she only does Mondays! Then they refer you to St Martins Gate walk in service, but you can't book ahead for that. I'm trying to get some repeat medication that was declined when I requested it online. What does one have to do to try and sort this out. Its such a shame that this once brilliant practice has declined so much. I hope things can improve here

Review titled Good practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My daughter Daisy Parkes was seen by ANP at Albany House Surgery on 17/01/2024. Daisy struggles with anxiety and resists going to see any medical professional but had a really positive interaction with the ANP who made Daisy feel really relaxed and listened with empathy. Daisy came away from the appointment with confidence and felt she would be happy to she this wonderful nurse again. I would like our thanks passed on to the individual, she has made a huge difference.

Review titled Oversubscribed practice with inadequate GP staffing
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been with this surgery for many years now but I am planning to move to another surgery as it is too difficult to get an appointment with a doctor. I do not need to see a doctor often, but every time I try to make an appointment the entire experience is incredibly difficult and upsetting. The surgery will only allow same day appointments to be made. This is only possible in my experience by calling exactly when the phone lines open then waiting in a queue. There is already a queue when the lines open and often I am hold for a lengthy period, only to be told all appointments are gone for the day, which means the whole process must be repeated the next day. The surgery also pressures patients to see the nurse rather than a doctor, but this somewhat defeats the purpose of a GP surgery. I have complained in writing and on the phone but to no avail. I feel that my family is not safe registered with this practice as it is unable to offer ready access to medical care. I now have private online cover as a backup and will move to another surgery for face to face appointments. Clearly the surgery has taken on too many patients and failed to recruit an adequate number of doctors to provide a basic service. It is frankly appalling.

Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Pat Reid - Posted on 29 August 2023
I contacted the surgery this morning and the receptionist was so helpful and efficient. Told me exactly what I needed to do. Then phoned me back an hour or so later after having spoken to a doctor and sorted out medication etc for me. So thank you for your help. I’ve got to admit inf been with this surgery since 1986 and they have always been good to me and my family.

Review titled Appointments Impossible
Rated 1 star out of 5

2 hours on hold. 2 weeks attempting to get appointment. None available. Call back everyday to be told the same thing. Went down and tried to book over the counter. Told to go home and phone again. This used to be a great practice but due to lack of drs and increased population togerher with lack of funding the surgery is now failing to provide adequate care. Something desperately needs to be done to improve this once brilliant practice.
