First appointment last week very thorough and positive. Follow up today was the same, and early, I was out before my appointment time!

  2. Review titled Worst practice I’ve experienced in my lifetime

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 June 2024

I have found trying to ‘use’ this practice as a patient so stressful that my partner has to phone or call in person for me. I find the reception staff impenetrable, one recent example is where I told them that I am not a regular visitor to the doctors so I need to have the procedures explained regarding blood tests etc, I could not get a clear answer from them. It took several phone calls to get this cleared up. I saw a consultant and am now trying to get the prescriptions on the NHS (my consultant wrote to the surgery), again could not get a clear answer from reception about how I go about getting this arranged, would I need an appointment? In the end I made an appt as I was running out of medication (not sure if this required and may be taking an appt from someone who needs it?) the final straw was discovering on the NHS app that my blood tests reveal 4 abnormal results but I was only told about one of them. My condition means that I become stressed and anxious far quicker than ‘normal’ but find using this practice makes me feel far worse than before I engaged, which is not right. I must stress that at no point did I get into any arguments with the staff either in person or over the phone as I just don’t have the emotional energy to do so. I have decided to change to another practice.

  3. Review titled Caring, reliable and professional GP

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have just received feedback today from the GP who referred me to a number of services back in February. My ultrasound took place on Monday and a text came two days later from the surgery. The GP responded quickly each time following my appointment and although much of it was self-referral, I am very happy with the continuity and care. Thank you

  4. Review titled Praise for Receptionist mm

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Jane Allison-Knowles - Posted on 31 May 2024

I have had difficulty reordering prescription drugs. I have been using the NHS App to do so since it became available. The items I needed were not available to order. The receptionist (mm)I dealt with was extremely helpful. Although the computer system was proving difficult. One issue was that for 2 items the system clearly had not logged the last issue dates and for the third, Gabapentin, it was not on the App as a repeat at all. The receptionist was very patient, helpful, professional and pleasant. She has sent the request to a clinician to follow up. For which I am very grateful. The items are both essential to my daily well being, one for epilepsy, the others to help control of chronic pancreatitis. I would add that my dealings with all the reception staff are always excellent and they are a credit to the practice.

  5. Review titled Bad at dealing with Sick Notes

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 November 2023

So I had surgery on the 20th of October and I’ve been trying to attain a sick note from the GP. This keeps being refused even though I am incapable of driving or walking currently. The reason I keep getting is it has to be the hospital as they gave me the original. From speaking to the hospital, this is not the case as they can only provide the initial as I’ve been discharged and do not require a follow up appointment. Even though the hospital have rang up the practice and requested them to provide me a sick note, this is still being refused. This is the first time I have needed a sick note and they have me feel throughout this experience that my health does not matter and that it is not an urgent reason to have a sick note after surgery.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you have had a negative experience. On reviewing the information provided, I can confirm that the duty to provide a medical statement (sick note) rest with the doctor who has clinical responsibility for the patient at the time. Hospitals are required to provide all statements for Social Security and Statutory Sick Pay purposes and statements for both inpatients and outpatients who are incapable of work. DWP have reminded hospital doctors of their responsibility to issue Med 3s in guidance which has been published on the DWP website and sent to Chief Executives of all NHS Trusts in England and Health Boards in Scotland and Wales. If you are still struggling to obtain your sick note from the hospital, I would be happy to help facilitate this, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards Lianne Burke Practice Manager

  6. Review titled Amazing service!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by R Fallows - Posted on 08 December 2023

I know there is such a lot of bad press surrounding GP surgeries at the moment but I honestly can't fault Appletree. I can get through on the phone and make appointments when necessary. I turned up today and was 5 mins early, had just sat down and was called straight in. I couldn't believe it. I was greeted with a smile and warm welcome from the doctor and the receptionist. Just want to say a big thankyou to the surgery and NHS in general.

Recently moved to this practice and can honestly say they have been excellent from start to finish. My son has a learning disability and the receptionist was kind, patient and friendly. The doctor was also amazing with him….so pleased we have joined.

  10. Review titled Pretty awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Djb - Posted on 27 April 2023

This practice keeps changing my doctor without my consent. When phoning for an appointment expect a lengthy pre-recorded message and general difficulty. Last time I was initially refused an appointment and - when I called again - given an appointment in three weeks time with a doctor that wasn’t my G.P. When trying to get help to get with a hospital referral I was told it’s not their job, I should chase it myself. It was hard to imagine how the service could get any worse but they manage to achieve it.
