  1. Review titled Best experience at this GP

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sandesh - Posted on 19 January 2023

I use virtually app and all my treatments and health checkups happen through GP at Archway. In my tenure right from COVID days I find them very responsive and most importantly is the staff, my nurse and the doctors at this place. They are very accommodating and helpful especially when I was diagnosed diabetic. They provided valuable information about programs that helped me with diabetes remission and become medication free. I will be forever thankful to this GP. The operation staff are very friendly and welcoming, prompt even on phone or when we visit personally.

Thank you so much for the positive review. We are glad that our innovative 'instant access to your GP surgery' drive gives our patients an outstanding service. Our innovation, in-house developed NHS-approved IT platform Virtually, and our multidisciplinary team (MDT) of clinicians and administrators, allows us to provide a primary care service unprecedented in primary care NHS. Our model seamlessly links to NHS services and provides quick and easy access to a wider range of NHS services. We also have onsite face-to-face access if patients need to see their GP in a conventional manner, especially for long-term condition (LTC) management. I am glad that our clinicians were nice and understanding. Best Wishes Archway Medical Centre

Very nice and helpful GP! She has answered all my questions, helped with some doubts. Very positive and structured consultation. I received all my documents and comments/references straight after which was very handy. Also I'm really happy with the NHS virtually app - enjoy it so much and will recommend my friends:) really helping me with my time management!

  3. Review titled Bad experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mohamed Intezan Bheekhun - Posted on 20 January 2023

Since December 2022 1st week I had an appointment in the evening and with my GP. I also like to see the same Dr as it make it easy for me to discuss my health matter. I called for a follow up appointment due to some test I recently done and was told no apponitment is issued any more I have to called on the day for same day appointment. I have been trying at 8am and when it get to my turn no appointment available. From December to now. My last experience was this morning 20.01.2023 . I called at 7.53am line closed and you cannot hold on the phone. At exactly 8.00am I called shocking I was 14th in the queue how did that happened. By the time the receptionist got to me no appointment not only my Dr but to any Dr. I was told to called emergency Dr or111. How does that help the flow of patient have at the hospital as GP has to see patient in order to reduce on the hospital. This system of yours is totally absurd and not working in the favour of patient. A GP practice becomes as a family DR and they know you and your health history. If an appointment was given to me as before I would already been seen by my Dr because its already been four weeks there is no common sense in thois system. Its in the fabvour of the surgery not patients. I have been with this surgery since 1983. Technology suppose to make it easy but sorry to say back in time was more easy, efficient and no stress when it comes to see your GP

We are so sorry that you had a bad experience with us. Archway Medical Centre, like all the other surgeries in the locality, as instructed by NHS England (NHSE), now have a large multidisciplinary team (MDT) consisting of GPs, nurses, clinical pharmacists, physicians' associates, mental health clinicians, physiotherapists, dieticians, and community pharmacists. NHSE recognised that demand and capacity did not match using the traditional clinical provision model. There are not enough GPs or nurses to go round. However, general practice experiences a wide range of medical conditions ranging from low to high acuity though the majority are low to medium acuity acute conditions. NHSE further recognised that what was needed was to have onsite, a multidisciplinary team, and patients should then be triaged to the appropriate clinician to allow the low to medium acuity acute medical problem to be addressed quickly and correctly. The resultant potential loss of continuity of care could be mitigated by implementing enhanced IT systems allowing all clinicians to readily access a patient’s medical records to ensure care was contiguous. Archway Medical Centre in particular has ensured all of our clinical staff adhere to our policy of showing our patients dignity and care at the same level as our GP partners. Please be assured that the GP partners are still responsible for the overall care of our patients. Archway Medical Centre, like every other GP surgery in our locality, is experiencing high demand for services. This demand has resulted in appointments booked by our patients, sometimes weeks in advance, eventually going unfulfilled, i.e., patients not turning up (DNA) for their pre-booked appointments. We are aware that you do not DNA your appointments but sadly we did have 100's of appointments every month being unfulfilled because our patients did not attend, usually because an appointment booked in advance for a low to medium acuity acute condition needs immediate attention and the patient may then find other NHS services to address their medical issue which results in the GP appointment no longer being needed. The result of having the majority of our appointments being booked in advance was that we then had little or no appointments available on the day for our patients with acute conditions that needed to be seen on the day. I am sure you can appreciate how frustrating this was for our patients and how frustrating this was for us, as by the end of the day, many appointments had gone to waste that could have been given to a patient that needed it on that day. In the two months our new system has been in place we have had a dramatic fall in our DNA rate. Our DNAs now number in single figures as opposed to 100’s per month. The patients are now accessing our clinicians on the day. We now have 100s of appointments that are available every week on the day. The Virtually APP might not be suitable for you. We encourage you to use our onsite services.

  4. Review titled Totally inefficient, badly run

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have wasted countless phone calls to get the most basic prescription renewed and have still not succeeded. This is such a waste of my time, and the practice's time. The latest advice I have been given is to start all over again with Virtually, when I have been following a treatment for 6 weeks already (which I'm now having to interrupt because of their incompetence)

Impossible to get an appointment, the doctor is never available. even when they claimed that you need to call at 8 am sharp. still no way you can get an appointment for the day or any day. apparently, they have 5 spots available only! 5... how?? for a whole day. Disgraceful.

Dear Johan, I am very sorry that you have not had the experience that you had expected and thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. The practice is currently looking into putting into place a new same-day urgent appointment system. There are many more than 5 same-day urgent appointments available to all patients each morning from 8 am. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this further. Kindest regards, Amanda.
