  1. Review titled Dreadful systems!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 June 2023

I have no idea whether the GPs are any good as I can't get through to speak to one. There is something fundamentally wrong with the system, as no one replies to the online forms (supposed response time 2 working days), and good luck if you try to call them. They don't respond to emails; can't find correspondence from consultants even when emailed several times to them. I had an urgent issue so I spent 1.5 hrs queuing on the phone, but even then they struggle to help. The receptionists sound completely over-worked and harried (they try to be helpful) but the practice systems are absolutely dreadful. I'm now changing practice, as the stress of trying to get routine healthcare (i.e. repeat prescriptions) is not worth it. Would not recommend anyone register with this practice if you ever need to actually speak to someone.

  2. Review titled Trying to speak to surgery

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Tried ringing the surgery as I have a medical condition I am really concerned about. Chose option 3 for appointment and new system just hangs up the phone.

  3. Review titled Terrible practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Have attempted to ring the surgery and been on hold for over an hour! The staff can be very rude and seem to not care regarding patient welfare when appointments are only available in 6/8weeks time.Ihave had medication prescribed by a consultant taken off my repeat medication slip with no communication from Aerial. How they got good from the CQC is beyond me.

  4. Review titled Almost Impossible to contact

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have a recurrent condition that has flared up today. GP usually prescribes antibiotics. I have been kept on hold queueing for a total of 2.5 hours. The battery kept running out on my phone. It’s 4pm and still no contact or medication. Not good enough and dangerous for some.

  5. Review titled Don’t know how it remains open

Rated 1 star out of 5

Moved to this surgery as my local one closed. I thought this surgery would be a better experience, and my family would be in ‘safe hands’ but boy am I wrong. Prescriptions aren’t approved, then you end up calling the prescription line, of which you are on hold for 30 minutes or more. Don’t bother writing a letter to any of the staff or the office manager, as they don’t reply! Reception staff are mostly polite and an improvement on the last surgery, but not sure about the doctors. Some doctors need a re education in some areas, instead of fobbing off patients with something it isn’t, and should listen to their patients symptoms more. Every time you drive up to the car park there are never any spaces to park.

  6. Review titled Chard medical providers seem to be struggling

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Bo Wood - Posted on 08 October 2024

When I visited the Fore Street surgery I was surprised the doctor’s office smelled strongly of food. I assumed the doctor had eaten his lunch in there just before I arrived. The doctor seemed nervous and that, along with the smell of food, sapped my confidence, made me think I wouldn’t get much help with my problem. And I didn’t. After 5 months of pain I left the office no further forward. I was disappointed and angry. I’m writing this review 6 months after that visit. I’m still in pain so decided to book another appointment. None is available for 4 weeks. I know there have been lots of changes in Chard health services over recent years and understand these can be disruptive. The use of 3 different databases (that don’t seem synchronised yet) will hopefully improve things in time but currently add to my frustration and lack of confidence. I have regular blood tests. The most recent one, in August at the St Mary’s site. was the worst I’ve ever had. It was extremely painful and I was left with a massive bruise running half way down my forearm. There has been no personal feedback, another first in previous years a nurse or doctor has slays met with me or phoned me about the results. Happily I am familiar with computer use so retrieved the results online. Fine for me but not so for others who aren’t computer literate. Overall since I moved to Chard 4 years ago my experience of the medical provision has dropped from very good/excellent to poor.
