    I had to call the Surgery 3 times to listen to the selection menu before I worked out that to book an appointment I had to select 'Patient Care Advisor' - this must confuse a lot of people - why not simply have 'Book an Appointment' as a selection? Also somewhat off-putting that 'Private Work' features higher on the selection list than 'NHS' - perhaps a different telephone number would work better for this line of work and send a more positive message?

    Good morning, We have listened to answerphone message this morning and have reworded it to make clearer the role of our Patient Care Advisors to explain how they can advise patients. We had to make this the last option on the system as patients were not listening to the options once they have the Patient Care Advisor extension. Many thanks for bringing this to our attention.

    I required a referral letter, that had been sent to consultants office at the Nuffield, to be sent again as I had been left a message by his secretary to say they had not received it. My appointment was for the following week. I felt by the way I was spoken to by the receptionist that I was being difficult and asking for something that couldn’t be done. She was quite stroppy and seemed very reluctant to help. She queried how I could have an appointment if the consultant hadn’t had the referral. To be honest it wasn’t so much what she said it was the way she said it. She comes across as irritated and unhelpful . I usually have found the receptionists at the practice really friendly and helpful . I know they are all under enormous pressure at the moment and it is difficult being on the front line however I now reluctant to call the surgery as I feel like I am being a nuisance.

    Went for a cervical screening. Whilst the exam itself is very short, these have been painful experiences for me in the past. The nurse was fantastic. Very earnest, professional and knowledgeable about the process, and understanding of my past experiences. She suggested I guide in the speculum myself which helped a lot. She was patient and more than accommodating before, during and after the examination. Brilliant patient care and grateful for such a positive experience. Thank you

    I brought my poorly mum to see the GP this morning. He was welcoming, compassionate, kind, reassuring and gave us the opportunity to talk and explain our worries. He explained things in a way that mum understood and will see her again in 4 weeks. A comforting experience because he showed he cared. So grateful to him. Sadly the receptionist came across on the phone as stressed and irritable, showing no particular concern or compassion. As they are first in line in the process, perhaps this individual could benefit from some coaching. I was not even a difficult person to deal with!!!! Tone of voice and attitude are what we hear first. As i was this morning, quite anxious, her behaviour did little to alleviate this. Just a change in attitude would make all the difference. I am very aware that appointments are precious so I don't expect to be given an appoint time as if I don't deserve it, with reluctance and a touch of contempt!! I appreciate also that the receptionists have a difficult job to do and it must be stressful. Thank you for this opportunity to share my experience.

I have reviewed the telephone call in question and I'm unable to hear the concerns that you have brought up.
