Review titled Fast and responsive service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 December 2024
I asked to see a doctor because I was worried about a spot on my face and had been advised to get it checked out. I was given an appointment for a telephone appointment with my named GP just over a week later. On the day before the appointment my GP rang me to offer a face to face appointment so that the spot could be seen. The appointment was later the same day. I was seen promptly, in fact by a locum doctor who examined me and confirmed the spot was not a serious problem. He referred my for treatment but explained I would be a low priority, which I quite understood. The next day I received a message on the NHS app to confirm the referral details. It is clear that everyone, including the receptionist who took down details of why I wanted to see a doctor, acted very professionally. My mind has been put at rest and I know I will get treatment in due course. This is typical of my experience of this practice. Thank you and I hope you enjoy a well-earned Christmas break.

Review titled Below satisfactory experience
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Noeline - Posted on 08 November 2024
The clinician I saw at midday on 6/11 in room 14 had a very hostile attitude. Very unwelcome attitude. Asked me to point to the problem re my concern didn’t bother to examine my neck as I had a problem with a painful single lymph node on the one side of my neck. You Didn’t ask as to why I was concerned about this. The clinician made his mind up within seconds that it was a reactive lymph node after examining my ear on the affected side and my mouth which he initially mentioned looked like a dental abscess at which point I mentioned to him that this was not the case as I have recently had a biannual dental hygienist and dentist review which were both unremarkable. If I had a non clinical background and told by a clinician that I had a reactive lymph node I would not have understood what he meant. I was then told that it usually takes a couple of weeks for this issue to settle without explaining what a couple of weeks meant. I had to ask this clinician what this meant in terms of 2 weeks or what exactly this meant but repeated the confusing”couple of weeks”. As a clinician you are meant to make a patient feel at ease and not like they are a burden, making them feel more anxious and like they are wasting your time. I appreciate that you are busy. Humility, a welcoming and a reassuring attitude are all important traits to have as a clinician to enable allaying a patient’s fears and anxieties. A lot of unanswered questions remained in my head which I decided not to ask bcos of your attitude. Fortunately my partner who is a medic provided me with the reassurance I needed with regards to what avenue I could access if the problem persists or the symptom worsen and what I should expect and the questions I should then be expected to get answers to. My advise to you Dr is to treat your patients with empathy, respect and kindness

Ring dead on 8.00, can’t get through, ring 32 time and keep getting cut off, only to then be told all telephone appointments and appointments for the day are gone, how? If I ring at 8?

Review titled A complete shambles of a system
Rated 1 star out of 5

Any attempt to reorder a repeat prescription is now impossible. I have attempted to access the system as I have done for several years and now I am supposed to have information to order using an NHS system but to no avail. No warning or contact from this surgery to help disabled people change to what must be a new way of failing to speak to patients and making life very difficult for disabled and elderly people to obtain this service. The only way now will be to be on hold for an extremely long time when telephoning for medication. Nice one Ashfield, I will look for another surgery who do not keep patients on hold for up to 45 minutes as I recently experienced and there were only 8 other people in the queue and due to the new prescription method this could explain why.

Review titled Horrible service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 September 2024
Hello. I am writing this negative review as I experienced several times unprofessionalism and disrespect. As a patient, any health issue should be addressed accordingly and with respect, however, I have been laughed at when explaining my health concerns by being told “ maybe because you are not exercising enough”. Although I might be young, this doesn’t mean that I cannot be sick or having pain. In addition, today I had an MRI appointment as my condition is getting worse and the clinic told me that they are unable to scan me because the referral papers are out of date. I had to pay for extra hours childcare and for parking to attend this appointment. Furthermore, the clinic advised me to go straight to the practice to inform them about the issue and upon my arrival, the reception lady told me to call the reception number to address the matter without even asking about it. I called the phone number to be told that they cannot answer the call. Horrible service, disrespectful, careless and incompetent.

I was actually invited to contact the practice for a review by text. I can't reply to this text. Have tried to contact as per instructions but cannot get through nor can you access their website - page not found. If you turn up without an appointment you will not be allowed in.

Review titled avoid avoid avoid

1. Staff members are rude and inadequately trained in customer service skills or anything else for that matter 2. Impossible to get an appointment 3. Phone lines are always busy 4. The General Medical Council should close this center to save lives. Even vets provide more care to animals than this place to human beings. Summary: avoid avoid avoid at any cost. Would like to give 0 stars but that's not an option unfortunately

Review titled Fantastic practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Julie Morris - Posted on 19 January 2024
I phoned reception took a while to get through, but was soon as I did I spoke to the receptionist who then asked for a call from the GP. GP called me and asked my symptoms and got me an appointment an hour later. I have been with this practice for 30 years or more, just there can be a few tweaks done but they are doing their best. The staff are always really helpful and polite.

Review titled Awful Practice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 May 2023
Before i start, if the Ashfield Medical Centre wants to reply just like to everyone else saying i am not a patient there, i am, however i want to stay anonymous. This practice has always been terrible. For some of my visits, the doctors have sat right in front of me googling my symptoms and deciding my diagnosis from whatever comes up, i can literally do that at home myself instead of paying for taxi and wasting my time coming all the way there just to have my symptoms googled for me. I come in for help and medicine needed not for google to be used to decide my diagnosis. I had covid a while back as well, i called in for an appointment saying my temperature was 40° and my lungs were burning up, i was struggling to breathe. They told me not to call them unless i am dying as they have “patients who require more help.” Last time i went to the practice was about a week ago, where i have seen their phones ringing, and patients waiting at reception while they are sitting in the staff room, drinking coffee and having a laugh as if there are no patients waiting for help. I was supposed to receive a call today from a doctor as a phone appointment but no one has called or tried to contact me in any other way. I highly do not recommend this medical practice unless you want to be pushed further to your death and being given the impression of “I don’t care.” Can not describe how disappointed i am in this. We pay taxes yet not receive the help we need. And what are the staff even getting paid for? For chatting to each other, having a laugh and drinking coffee? Give us the job there as well then. I’m sure many of us don’t mind coming in for a coffee and getting paid for it.
