  1. Review titled Really poor and shouldn't be advising women

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 November 2024

My GP wouldn't prescribe my usual contraceptive a few weeks after I've given birth due to increased risk of blood clots. Same contraception I've taken for years but she's happy to just throw any other hormonal contraception at me that I have no clue how my body will react to. She even started suggesting coils and implants when I said don't want anything that I can't stop from one day to the next as I worry of side effects and have heard of terrible side effects of the contraception she suggested. To even start on new hormones a few weeks after giving birth is an awful idea. Shocking that she's happy to throw all this new untried stiff on me rather than my usual one that I know I have no side effects of. I've gone private instead and had them prescribed so now my GP aren't involved in my contraceptives at all due to their complete lack of support and understanding.

  2. Review titled Glad this isn't my regular doctors

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sandra - Posted on 05 June 2024

I was sent here for an ultrasound and I wish I'd been sent somewhere else honestly. When I arrived I was greeted by a set of stairs which is not exactly wheelchair friendly but if you want to reach the reception desk you have to use the stairs. To get to the ultrasound rooms you then have to go down two sets of stairs. There is a ramp around the side to get to the ultrasound rooms (not to the reception desk so you can't check in at all if you're in a wheelchair or can't use stairs). But the ramp is covered in over grown bushes so you'd struggle to get through it all. Back to my visit... I went to the reception desk and the receptionist was chatting with the other receptionist. She could clearly see me stood infront of her but she didn't think to say "sorry just a second" if it was important or pause the chat and check me in so she could return to the chat. After waiting a while she finally checked me in. When I had the ultrasound the staff were fine. But they hadn't given me extra tissue to clean the ultrasound gel off. I had to ask multiple times for some. The ultrasounds I've had before had doctors who immediately gave extra tissue to clean it up without asking. Really glad this isn't my normal doctors.

Dear Sandra, Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely appreciate all comments as they help us improve our services. I am Hayley, the Assistant Practice Manager. I apologize for your recent experience at the surgery. For patients who need to use the downstairs entrance, there is a phone outside the disabled entrance. This phone buzzes our Reception team, who will answer and guide you to the waiting room below. Regarding the ramp and the overgrown bushes, we have a regular gardener who addressed these issues last week. I apologize that our Receptionists did not acknowledge you upon your arrival. I will address this with the supervisor to ensure it does not happen again. Concerning your scan, as it was conducted by a separate company that uses our rooms, I cannot directly comment on your experience. However, I will relay your feedback to them so they are aware of your concerns. Please feel free to contact me or the practice directly if you have any further concerns. Thank you again for your feedback, and we apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. Kind regards, Hayley

  3. Review titled Terrible practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 February 2024

Often waiting for a call back 7+ days with no suggestion of when this may be. Patients are left in the dark with zero communication of what next steps are. In one instance they spoke with the hospital team regarding a medicine change but did not relay this information and so we were left to run out of medication without any idea of what to do next. I was only able to learn of this via the consultations section in the NHS app as the online form had been marked as closed and complete. Really poor service even when the patient and their family have made efforts to follow up on their own health.

  4. Review titled Very attentive follow up after cancer

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by AVRIL F DANCZAK - Posted on 03 October 2023

I was treated for cancer 4 years ago and was impressed by being phoned by my doctor at the practice to check my progress/investigations/review medication. The Christie who did the initial treatment have not followed me up at all so its reassuring to know that my GP remains on top of things and is checking that my care is up to date and appropriate. Exemplary work. I think GP services deserve much more appreciation and recognition from the government and should get a pay rise too!

  5. Review titled Offline for the day

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 September 2023

Me and my partner need the doctor assistant and advise so we go onto ask my GP which shows offline. Give the practice a call to have my call answered with a poor attitude and being told they ain't giving any help today and to call 101. But it's not 101 I need it's my GPs advice as I've just come out of surgery and the hospital have advised my GP to help with all follow ups. This surgery is absolutely shocking seems they don't give a care about there patients. You can never get an appointment with them if you are using there ask my GP it's taking over 7+days to get a response if you call you are met with hostile attitude because you have called and not used online.

  6. Review titled Online PATCHs service worked really well

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 February 2023

I have used the PATCHs service 3 times in the last month all with great success. The first time was fairly urgent and the Dr called the same day to advise what to do - he found it easy to diagnose as I sent a photograph in. The other 2 times were less urgent and the Dr’s responded waiting 48 hrs. Excellent, efficient service - thank you!

Thank you for your comments. I believe that you may have us mixed up with the Ashville surgery in London. We are a Manchester based GP and do not use PATCHs. I'm glad to hear that you have received a positive experience at your GP.

  7. Review titled Easy to contact, efficient, trans and nonbinary inclusive

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2023

Had a wonderful experience as a new patient at Ashville. I have regular contact with my GP surgery as a trans person and often this can be hard work. Ashville has been so helpful, forthcoming and knowledgeable. The receptionist asked my preferred pronouns and was discreet and helpful about arranging my blood tests. I've not had to wait long for contact with them and the environment is really nice - friendly, homely. It even has a community garden. Very impressed!

  8. Review titled Fantastic practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Harriet S - Posted on 01 February 2023

I have always had such positive experiences with Ashville Surgery for managing mine and my families health concerns. Most recently for my 3 year old’s eczema management - they took a pragmatic, patient-centred and holistic approach to help manage her condition. I always feel listened to and involved in decisions about mine and my daughter’s care. Despite the challenges of the pandemic and to the wider NHS, Ashville have continued to provide high quality, professional and timely care. ‘Ask my GP’ is a great service and I am always responded to within an appropriate time span. I have always been able to get a timely face to face appointment when it is needed. I highly recommend this surgery to anybody, they are fantastic. I have family and friends who are also registered, and report similar positive experiences. Thank you to all the GP’s for continuing to work so hard to deliver excellent care to your patients!
