  1. Review titled Contact difficulty

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Victoria Taylor - Posted on 11 February 2025

Have to complete form about need to see GP - personal health info & took over 13mins of your assistant’s & my time. Your assistant was very good - patient & understanding but feel it was not a good use of her time. Then wait by phone to receive decision made by a team as to when appt. available. Turned out to be 18days later - 28.02. OK by that time problem will have resolved & I will cancel appt. Yet, some may give up trying for appt. & put up with whatever it is until worsens. Last year, I had something that caused me difficulties for several months (May -Nov) because unable to see a doctor. When I did get appt. problem diagnosed almost instantly & prescribed suitable treatment. Not sure how efficient this system is or will be. From a patient’s point of view it’s caused frustration & some irritation. I doubt that I am your only patient who finds this system difficult. This really more of an observation than a complaint.

Thank you for your feedback. Our form is available between 7.30am and 4pm for patients to complete themselves- this is quicker than the receptionist trying to understand what the problem is and transferring it onto the form. We understand that not all patients are confident with using online forms and is why the receptionist will help over the phone or assist the patient in using our inhouse tablet. Each appointment is then clinically assessed in order for the patient to receive the most appropriate appointment the first time. Depending on the clinical need an appointment can be the same day or may be better suited to wait until the patients usual GP has an appointment in order to maintain continuity of care, due to annual leave this may be up to 4 weeks . By clinically assessing the form it may also mean that the patient may be referred to another healthcare provider or, for example, prescribed medication without needing to see a GP. Our old system operated on a first come first served basis regardless of medical need, we have changed our appointment system in order to be accessible to all patients and to offer equality and fairness with our appointments as each appointment request is clinically assessed. Thank you again for your observation and we hope that in future you will be able to complete our online form yourself so that our receptionist can help another who may not be so capable.

  2. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Louise Taylor - Posted on 12 November 2024

I called the surgery at 8am & spoke to the helpful receptionist. She clearly explained what would happen next. I received a call from the Doctor at 8.10am asking for to come to Wendover Health Centre at 9.30am. I was seen promptly by the Doctor and given a full examination for my problem. I was treated with care and compassion and reassured that all was well. A great service today by all concerned and a lovely surgery to be part of.

It won’t let me name my doctor but her name begins with E, she has helped me so much and really listens to my concerns. I don’t feel rushed when speaking with her and she is proactive with referrals. Really happy to have her as my Dr, thank you! I can’t wait to update you in the near future with more weight loss :)

I attended a GP appointment on 15th March 2024. The Doctor was very attentive and listened to all my concerns and queries. I was very impressed with the whole experience right from arranging the appointment with the reception staff to completion of the GP appointment.

  5. Review titled Disfunctional! Is it even a Gp????

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Avril Blake - Posted on 15 February 2024

I've just tried to call for advice for my 2 year old. She's had a cough since mid December which is getting better and I asked the receptionist, what do I do. I called because its not entirely urgent as she's not sick but she seems to have a bit of odor when she breathes. She basically said, call in for an urgent care appointment in the morning or call 111. I said, its not urgent and she repeated herself. I then called back and asked, please can I book in my daughter for a general check up with a pediatrician since she's been sick for 2 months and I was informed that they don't have one and the only appointments available, was a telephone consultation on the 14th of March with a general!! For a 2 year old! And no idea at all, as to when a face to face one would be available whatsoever. Absurd. I kept being told to call 111 or use urgent care! It seems their only role here is to basically tell people to go somewhere else! No wonder the phone lines are easy to get through to. What are you even doing if you cant even function as a surgery, offering face to face appointments and have no clue as to when you can? I only left my old surgery 1 month ago to sign up with this one, and I'm utterly rendered speechless. My last surgery was a million times better and I only changed since I moved. It wouldn't bother me much if it was for myself, but for my daughter? That's just not acceptable. They may as well just shut down. I'll be leaving immediately, even if I need to travel further.

  6. Review titled Removing patients

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sarah Stevens - Posted on 03 August 2023

I have been registered with this practice for a number of years and have been very happy with the care I have received until today. I have come home to find that the surgery has decided to remove me from their list as apparently I no longer live in the catchment area and they can no longer accept patients. However they are only 1 mile further away from my nearest surgery. They are only giving me 28 days to re register with another practice. Leaving me high and dry if I don’t register with the other surgery, who I don’t want to register with. I cannot beleive they can do this and they have done it to others in our tiny village. However the NHS website says they are accepting new patients. So if they have capacity for new patients why don’t they have capacity for the ones they have got. I think this is terrible. Rubbish automated letters and no thought for the patients.

Dear Ms Stevens Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you are unhappy that we are reviewing our patient list and have needed to write to those patients that do not live within the catchment area for Aston Clinton Surgery. The website states that we are accepting registrations for those patients that move within our boundary. This is only possible because we have made the decision to ask those outside of our area to re-register. Westongrove partnership

  7. Review titled Avoid at all costs

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 July 2023

Avoid at all costs. I was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer early March this year. After getting a nose bleed that wouldn't stop and not being able to get an appointment I ended up in A & E. The doctor there sent a request for my GP to arrange an Ear nose & throat referral. Of course this didn't happen so I chased them up. Not hearing anything I decided to go private. I eventually got a referral through for 10th of July by which time I had had a biopsy, an operation to remove the tumour and an appointment with Oncology to discuss radiotherapy. I am now trying to chase them up for information for my insurance claim and they are also useless with regards to that.

  8. Review titled What's going on

Rated 1 star out of 5

Dreadfully long wait times for appintments. Not enough doctors because they have retired. Why not just get some new doctors? Was one of the first to register with the practice when it first opened. Very disappointed with the way it seems to be heading!

Dear patient, thank you for your post. Like practices across the country we have been struggling to recruit new doctors. We will of course be continuing our efforts in order to relieve the recognised pressure on appointments and hope to be successful soon.
